For the 2.7 update, we plan to change how spell point and characteristic scrolls are obtained.
Characteristic Scrolls:
As per what was announced upon the 2.6 update, it will no longer be possible to obtain characteristic scrolls by exchanging resources (or artifacts) with NPCs in the 2.7 update.

Characteristics scrolls will only be obtainable through the exchange of mount certificates or Doploons.

This decision was made in order to fight against the abnormal generation of scrolls through the use of bots and to refocus the creation of characteristics scrolls towards more recreational activities in game.

Spell Point Scrolls:
For the 2.7 update, we've also decided to withdraw the exchange of diamonds for spell point scrolls (for the same reasons that led us to modify the exchanges for characteristic scrolls).

As areplacement, we've added the option of exchanging spell point scrolls for Kolossokens by interacting with the NPC Glad Yator (at a rate of 1000 Kolossokens per spell point scroll), located inside the Kolossium.

Price Evolution
These changes could have a significant impact on prices and availability of spell point and characteristic scrolls. Our goal is not to make these scrolls scarce or impossible to obtain. We will be watching their prices and their availability over the upcoming updates and we will make changes to the methods and amounts of scrolls that you can obtain in game if we deem it necessary.

So remember to exchange your resources for scrolls before the release of version 2.7.0.. you only have a few weeks left!

good way to make in impossible to get SPs on oto-mustam.

Current price range of 1,000 Kolossokens on Zatoishwan 650kk-1mk. Depending on how desperate buyer is or how long they've been looking for someone with 1,000 Kolossokens. Players can spend numerous day just trying to buy products costing 1,000 kolossokens. Mostly Pebbles but since Pebbles are the same price as Scrolls I'll throw them in together.

I can't beat most Dopples with my 74 Sadida.
I can barely afford a few scrolls, so it's not worth spending money on an inconsequential amount of points.
I can't win in Kolossium because they nerfed Sylvan Power and Poisonous Wind.

That means no scrolls.

I hate kolo fights... most of the times you find people insulting you because you don't have the best set ever made or because you are just 10/5 or because they just like being nasty.
I just want to have fun and maybe get some tokens for SP... but it seems it's going to be impossible for me!

This is an absolutely horrible idea. When I first started this game, farming the resources for the scrolls and selling them on the market was the only bearable way for me to make money. I disliked professions, I disliked time-consuming dungeon runs where your chances of getting the premier drop were slim. I loved spending hours farming drops with AoE Ecas and Intel Cras, just chatting up my guildmates along the way.

And many, many players make money this way, not just bots, and it efficiently made me money well into the level 130-140 equipment. Bad, bad move, Ankama. It feels as though you don't even play your own game. I know I don't, and it's for reasons like this. I quit awhile ago. I was going to come back today, but visited the forum for the heck of it first. Then I saw this. Now, I just don't know. This is going to make the game harder for a lot of newer players.

I don't have a problem with SP scrolls only being obtainable through the kolossoken exchange, what I do have a problem with is how hard it can be to get hold of those kolossokens.

At the moment a player can put in a huge amount of effort and end up getting absolutely nothing from the kolo system yet others can put in almost no effort and reap the rewards.

I've copied below a suggestion I made in another thread, what do people think of it?

I think one possible solution is to reward players even if they lose, maybe give them the bonus tokens for the day just for competing. I bet you'd get a lot more people taking part in Kolossium fights if they got something for trying instead of no xp and no rewards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think this suggestion would do wonders for the system. What level of reward would be enough to encourage participation? Maybe 1/4 the reward of a win?
===============================================================================================================

To get more people taking part I would suggest that the rewards for individual fights stays the same i.e. xp + tokens (rating divided by 100) but the change
I would suggest is to the bonus tokens you get the following day, currently all you have to do is win one fight and the next day you get tokens equal to your rating divided by 10, I think you should only get these tokens if you take part in 3 or 4 fights minimum a day and you should get them no matter if you win all or lose all.

Currently someone who has an elite PvP team with ratings of 1800+ can get 1 fight in say 20 mins and win in 10 so for 30 mins work they'll get nearly 600 tokens on that 1 performance, 18 per character for the win and 180 per character the next day as bonus tokens. Where as some one with a rating of 800 could spend 6 hours a day taking part in 5-10 fights and get absolutely nothing.
For me this is why a lot of people don't bother with Kolossium anymore.

After my post in this thread, I stopped to think about the changes. I then decided to re-read this entire 11 page post, so I could get a feel for the thoughts before, immediately at the change, and after the change. Here's what I think. (SP = Spell Point Scroll; MC = Multi-clienter)
  • Things Izmar said:
    1. Devs intend SP prices to go up.
    2. Devs expect SPs to be rare.
    3. Devs don't want players to be able to easily scroll all spells
    4. Change is inevitable
    5. Devs intend to create obstacles so that players will have to adapt and overcome
    6. Devs will add a different way to get SP if small servers demonstrate the difficulty in getting SPs
    7. Older players, that harvested SPs from resource exchanges should be considered to be lucky
My updated/enlightened thoughts (not a response in order to my list above):

  • Izmar cares about our community
  • The Devs are trying to solve problems
  • The problems the Devs are trying to solve may be completely unknown to us as a userbase/playerbase. As such, the multiple effects of changes they have made may be having their desired consequenses
  • Why is the solution to those that prefer to PvM just to buy the scrolls from the PvPers? That isn't a solution, that's a band-aid on gangrene.
  • I really really really dislike PvP. The only reason I do it, is because of the recent change. If I want to PvP, it should be for fun (and occassionally my guild will go on Perc hunting sprees...which are fun...especially when we win based on tactics after the defenders tell us it's hopeless ). I don't want to feel forced to participate in an aspect when there is no alternative.
  • Diamonds were rare, and diamonds were needed for equips as well.
  • We have NO IDEA what they are using for metrics to gauge when the smaller servers have offically had a hard time getting SPs. And based on past behavior from the Devs, even if it's seen, it's very unlikely that there will be a complete reversal...or any reversal at all.
  • My server (Rushu) has no problems getting Kolo fights setup.
  • As a player noted, when he worked on "gaming the system" he easily generated tokens to get SPs. This is counter to what the Devs intended and since one player found it so easy, this will be duplicated
  • Making MCs unable to use Kolo won't work, as there are easy to implement work-arounds for restrictions (just like MCs are found attacking/defending percs).
  • Long ago, I realized I would need to MC to do the things I want to do, the way I want to do them. I enjoy being in a great guild which is fairly active and very very helpful, but I cannot rely on others to do the dungeons I want to do, or be available when I'm available. I have a wife and 2 children, and randomly go AFK for real-life situations.
  • This change will reward MCs, much much more than a single account player. And it will do this not only by the inherent reward for being in a pre-formed team and using one's own tactics (which greatly increases one's odds). I will not explain my intended method for SP generation, because I intend to "game the system" myself. As Izmar said, this change is to be considered an obstacle, and my goal should be to find a way to overcome it. I believe I have, and I will begin testing tonight. If it holds true, I intend to amass as many SPs as I can for current and future characters I have so I can fully scroll the ones I want. I will then continue to do so to generate kamas. This will happen until the Devs again change the rules of the "game".
  • Some classes are ENTIRELY more spell dependant than others. I have worked on 6 of the classes, using various builds to see which of them could get the needed spells. Some classes have almost no need for extra SPs, other than weapon skills and release if wanted. Other classes could almost be thought of as requiring most or all of their class spells to be effective. My main (a 198 osa) has needed an extraordinary number of SP (which I all got via diamonds from Crackler dungeon runs...and I had no issues doing the farming...it's just like farming for any other mat for any other piece of equipment). I'm still not done scrolling spells on my main, and it's doubtfull I ever will be now.
  • Xoxlx demonstrated an easy-to-understand calculation showing how the Devs implemented the slow down of SP generation (on page 9...it'a a great, short post)
  • Immature players in the game (either in PvP or PvM) are extremely off-putting. That said, I will simply turn off chat to get away from it. If I'm in Kolo, I then add them to my "enemies" list. Once in my "enemies" list, I cannot be grouped with them in Kolo
  • Kolo is unbalanced, especially when you try to group with random players. I watch my rankings basically stagnate, and I continue to see fights against other players far below and far above the character I'm using. A ranking-only system invites exploitation, especially once you figure out some of the nuances.
  • The requests I see many players asking for an alternative to the kolosokens for SPs will go nowhere. They will not give ice kamas as an alternative, or doploons, or any other alternative. How do I know this? Well, I don't really...other than the obvious fact doing either would directly contradict what Izmar said is the Devs desire with this SP exchange removal: both would result in an entirely too easy to farm system. They want players to struggle to get just one SP, let alone 15...or...forbid even nearing 60. I currently still need nearly 80 SP to get what I want leveled. The very best we could hope for is a slight downward adjustment of the cost in kolosokens needed to buy a SP. And this most likely will never happen.

It would kill a few birds with a stone - if one could get the spell point scrolls via fighting temple dopples/doploon. This will enable characters to develop some confidence towards PvP and learning how to fight etc... if enough players raise these positive ideal suggestions , perhaps the developers might consider them. The price of spell points in Shika had gone sky high. We need alternate methods to get access to these even if it cost lots of temple doploons to buy them - at least give the players choices, not just the time wasting kolo.

This is exactly how I feel. I detest how they nearly force a player to use Kolo, since it is the only source outside of the beyond rare drop from low-level monsters. I very much dislike PvP, but I'm forced into it because I need SP scrolls. I think exchanging diamonds was a perfectly fine way to go, as it wasn't nearly as exploited as the CP scrolls. I think the SP exchange should be reinstated.

Another option would be to make it so that Doploons can also be exchanged for SP scrolls. I hardly ever do kolo fights myself and for this reason am kinda unable to get SP scrolls unless I buy them.
Adding them as a buyable option with Doploons would also make them way more accessible for everyone, be it the people who fight dopples/kolo for them for their own use, or be it for people who can buy them easier.

Exactly as alyss-sin stated, the 2.9 change hasn't really created more at all, and most of the people I know who have spell scrolls on a character have left them on that character unless they no longer play it. The deletion of the ability to exchange diamonds made me go from being able to obtain multiple scrolls per day to now no longer getting one per month because I do not kolo. Maybe if the kolo system worked better I would consider that as a means to get spell point scrolls, however the number of wins required compared to the broken system of getting a good team if you run random to me is not worth the hassle. It takes a while to get a fight and then because of so many reasons a fight can be lost or cancelled and no one wins in these situations is simply a fail in respect to a change that honestly wasn't so much affected by bots because the number of p2p bots at least on Rushu when I attempted to run wild plain crackler mobs or the dungeon were very minimal if none at all. I get that players can no longer exchange resources for characteristic scrolls as those are very simple to get now. But there is no way to do dopples to obtain spell point scrolls, at least to my knowledge I don't do dopples often. But even if this was an option things would be much better. There is no effort attempting to resolve this issue so players lose out, that's plainly the fact.
