But no, John wasn't mad, he was simply lost, and he was even more lost when he saw evidence of civilisation scattered across the island. In times past, Sakai's mineral resources had been exploited for the benefit of a controversial Count, a man named Harebourg.

What John didn't know, however, was that the island was still inhabited! In the depths of an abandoned mine, a strange being, born of another dimension, coolly waited to be found. Of his name, only the initial was known: N.
Exiled in the World of Twelve after an upheaval in the space-time continuum, N landed on a mysterious island called Frigost. There he met the enigmatic Count Harebourg, a Xelor inventor specialising in the manipulation of Time itself. Convinced of N's otherworldly nature, the Frigostian aristocrat asked for his help to repair a very special machine, but the operation was ultimately unsuccessful.

And so, under the pretext of wanting to protect his strange visitor, Harebourg sent N to Sakai.

Isolated for months on his frozen island, guarded by fierce goblins, N gradually realised he was trapped. And by dint of freezing his toes in his abandoned mine, he became a cold-blooded killer...
