iop
Iops are go-getting Warriors beyond reproach! One thing's for sure: Iops know how to use their weapons. They need to draw first blood at least once a day just to feel alive. Their impetuousness can make Iops the best of knights ... and the worst!
- Speciality : Close combat warrior
- Preferred Weapons : Sword (100 % damage) and Hammer(95 % damage)
- Basic characteristics :
- 48 Health Points (HP)
- 6 6 Action Points (AP)
- 3 3 Movement Points (MP)
- 1 1 Initiative Point
- 100 - 100 Prospecting Points
Each time you level up in combat, you'll receive 5 points which you can use to improve your characteristics and one point for your spells. You should spend these points carefully and establish a direction in which you want your character to evolve.
In the table below you'll see how much it costs to improve each characteristic. The more you invest in any one characteristic, the more points you'll have to spend to continue improving it.
For Iops, each STRENGTH point will only cost one capital point until you have accumulated 100. Thereafter, you'll have to spend two capital points to improve this characteristic.
VITALITY will always cost one point and WISDOM will always cost three.
| Cost in points for each characteristic . |
1 for 1 | 2 for 1 | 3 for 1 | 4 for 1 | 5 for 1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intelligence | 0 to 20 | 21 to 40 | 41 to 60 | 61 to 80 | 81+ |
| Strength | 0 to 20 | 21 to 40 | 41 to 60 | 61 to 80 | 81+ |
| Agility | 0 to 20 | 21 to 40 | 41 to 60 | 61 to 80 | 81+ |
| Chance | 0 to 100 | 100 to 200 | 201 to 300 | 301 to 400 | 401+ |
What sets Iops apart is their STRENGTH and it is this characteristic that will cost the least amount of capital points to develop. STRENGTH increases your Earth damage and it is on this element that most of their spells are based. It also increases Neutral damage.
Iop spells
Iops in general
What sets Iops apart is the enormous damage dealt by their attacks. Iops possess the single most powerful attack in the game. The downside of their power is the fact that they must be very close to their enemies to attack.
Regardless of the basic course you decide to take with your character, you'll find yourself using these fundamental spells again and again:
jump, intimidation, compulsion, vitality, power, mutilation
Regardless of your basic element, these spells will increase damage, improve VITALITY or allow you to get into a close combat position more quickly. You'll soon get to know them inside out.
Being an expert in close combat, you should equip your character either with a Sword (100% damage) or with a Hammer (95% damage). Nothing's stopping you from trying out the other weapons in the game, but with these your damage will fall to 90%.
As for choosing your attack spells, this will depend on the element you decide to specialise in. Iops are excellent warriors so you'll find you have a good number of offensive spells, mainly linked to three elements Earth, Fire and Air. Earth Iops are the most popular choice and are the easiest characters to evolve. STRENGTH is the least costly characteristic to improve for Iops and their most powerful spells are linked to the Earth element. But nothing's stopping you from choosing another element on which to base your character.
Earth Iops
If they are evolved carefully, Earth Iops can become the most powerful warriors in the game in terms of damage. They are also the easiest of all Iops to develop, and the best way to do this is to use capital points to increase STRENGTH and to a lesser degree, VITALITY.
Their equipment will consist mainly of elements which bring STRENGTH bonuses. As for their close combat weapon they may choose items which bring either Earth or Neutral damage. A good blade to start of with is the Little Knight Sword.
The Earth Iop's attack spells are: pressure, brockle, concentration, SWORD OF IOP, IOP'S WRATH
Up until level 80, Earth Iops only have one attack spell linked to their element. Because of this they usually specialise in close combat or will tend to use the Neutral spell, BROKLE which can be bought in the class temple. The spell IOP'S WRATH, which is available from level 100, is the most powerful spell in the game.
Fire Iop
The Fire Iop is a good alternative to the Earth Iop, even if they are more difficult to evolve. Ideally, they will improve their INTELLIGENCE with scrolls and subsequently use their points capital.
Fire Iops will endeavour to acquire as many INTELLIGENCE points as they can using their equipment. Their greatest companions on the battlefield are weapons such as the Fire Kwakblade sword or the Toh'Lo Hammer. These will increase the Iop's effectiveness in close combat.
The Fire Iop's attack spells are: SWORD OF FATE, DESTRUCTIVE SWORD, CUT, STRENGTHSTORM
Fire Iops are weaker than their Earth equivalents, but have greater range when attacking. What is more, their INTELLIGENCE will considerably increase their initiative which can, under the right circumstances, prove strategically useful.
Air Iop
Although as difficult to evolve as its Fire equivalent, Air Iops can prove to be strategically strong due to their mobility which combines ease of movement with powerful attack spells. They will tend to begin by increasing their AGILITY with scrolls, adding their characteristic points if they wish
Air Iops will try to maximise their AGILITY bonus by using appropriate equipment. In doing so, they will maximise their Air type damage and minise their chances of being tackled by their enemies. A sword such as the Wind Kwakblade will aid them in dealing high damage in close combat.
The Air Iop's attack spells are: DIVINE SWORD, SWORD OF JUDGMENT, CELESTIAL SWORD
The spell SWORD OF JUDGMENT is peculiar in that it deals Air damage while at the same time effecting a Fire and Water type Theft of Life.
Water Iop
Being the most difficult to evolve, Water Iops are the rarest in their class. They do not have any true Water-type attack spell, and the only spell to which the Water element is linked is the SWORD OF JUDGMENT , which is basically an Air-type spell. Water Iops will consequently try to increase their CHANCE using spells, but should also pay attention to their AGILITY.
Water Iops seek equipment that either improves CHANCE or brings damage bonuses. For close combat, Iops will tend to use Water-type weapons such as the dagger, Ergot Mina or the the Ice Kwakblade.
The Water Iop's attack spells are: SWORD OF JUDGMENT (Air spell with Water and Fire-type Theft of Life).
the SWORD OF JUDGMENT is an unusual case because water is not the principal attack elements of this spell. All the same, the player who is courageous enough to embark on the difficult path of the Water Iop should focus on improving this spell. They use a lot of spells which bring damage bonuses in order to compensate for their initial weakness in this respect.
Multi-elemental Iop
As their name indicates, Multi-elemental Iops combine spells of at least two specific elements. Often the combination is formed between Fire and another element, but playing a Fire/Air Iop or a Fire/Water Iop is also entirely possible. On the other hand, these types of character paths are some of the most difficult to evolve. You should have a certain level of knowledge of Iop spells before undertaking this character.
It is not advisable to evolve your character based on more than two attack elements. Your capital points will be spread too thin and your character will lack focused strength, making it an impractical option.
