Baker
If you don't mind fighting for hours on end with sticky dough and sugary jelly, then baking might be the profession for you!
This profession is a very lucrative way of earning your bread and butter and since bread is one of the main ways of feeding yourself you won't have to pay for food either. Adventurers eat bread to restore their Health Points, so as long as people are hunting and fighting in the World of Twelve, you're guaranteed to sell whatever you bake.
But where there's lots of hungry mouths willing to pay for their food, you can be sure there will be even more hands willing to feed them. There are a lot of bakers in the World of Twelve, so you'll sometimes find yourself having to lower your prices considerably in order to sell your produce.
In spite of all that, you can really make a fortune with this profession... and if you've already qualified as a peasant, you'll be able to harvest wheat to make your main ingredient - flour!
Have you been thinking about getting into the bread business? If early mornings and hot ovens don't bother you, go see Sam Croa, the Astrubian baker to learn the trade. You'll find him in his workshop at (2,-16). If you feel up for a bit of travelling, you can also go to Amakna and see Kelog Hornflex (3,0).
Once you've got the hang of baking, you'll need to invest in the tools - start with The Kneader, which you can get from whoever taught you the trade. It'll cost you 10 Kamas. Mr Hornflex will alternatively trade one for a few Sesame Seeds.
That's it! You got the tools, you've got the know-how, nothing remains but to get down to business!
Ça y est, vous êtes bien équipé. Il ne vous reste plus qu'à boulanger !
It's time to make some bread! Put down your weapon, equip your Kneader and go to the nearest Bakers' workshop. Click on an oven and select the action 'Bake Bread'. Slide the ingredients into the empty slots according to what you see in the recipes interface.
As you might have guessed, the main ingredient in your cooking will be flour. You can buy meat at the peasants' Marketplace, or harvest it yourself if you're trained. As for the Yeast, you'll have to go see Sam Croa or Kelog Hornflex who'll sell you bags for a good price. You'll find water in the taverns of the World of Twelve if you don't have the energy to go draw your own from a well.
When you start practicing your profession, you'll only be able to use simple recipes, and only ones with 2 resources (i.e. 2 slots). Once you get a little experience under your belt, you can move on to more complex recipes with more ingredients and more slots. The list below tells you the different grades of recipe along with the level you require to be able to use them:
- 2 slots (level 1+)
- 3 slots (level 10+)
- 4 slots (level 20+)
- 5 slots (level 40+)
- 6 slots (level 60+)
- 7 slots (level 80+)
- 8 slots (level 100+)
Like with the craft professions, the more complex a recipe is, the more experience you'll gain if you manage to do it. But the lower your level is, the less likely you will be to succeed in using it... bear in mind that no recipe is a guaranteed success.
