Ankama Shield (Beta): Account Security
2011-10-03 17:12
As we announced to you just after the intrusion of the Ankama database, we are begining the beta testing phase for our new security system that will protect your account and your personal data: the Ankama Shield. This secure method of access will prevent anyone with ill-will from raiding your account from a strange computer, because you control your level of access!

Ankama Shield

This past August, Ankama faced a major intrusion. Our support team has managed to answers more than 80 000 tickets, and is currently assessing the actual losses of the players in order to establish a fair compensation for our players and customers who were victims of this intrusion.

At the same time, the DOFUS team, in co-operation with the Support and Web teams, have been working on a new protection service for all Ankama accounts to help prevent problems like this in the future. And we're pleased to offer you the chance to try this new service, starting today.

Ankama Shield, Protection for You and Your Account:

The Ankama Shield allows you to limit authorized access to your account to one or more computers. No authorization, no access! If someone does gain access to your account, without authorization from the Shield, the account will revert to restricted mode, which prevents any type of item trading, or use of other game feature that might degrade your account in game or on our websites. You can manage your own account access permission settings on our site by logging in to your account management section.

For more details, please visit our tutorial.

For more security in game and on the web, activate your Ankama Shield!

Well what happens if a friend had quit the game a few months ago and my team cant access his e-mail? We still use his characters we sub them and set them in-game but does that mean our team is split forever now? so we now have 3 characters that are on safe mode stopping us from grouping or upgrading its set. what can we do about this?
Yeah...that's account sharing no matter how you try and put it, so Ankama won't care either way

I logged in from a friends pc, but when I came back at my own home and logged in, I got the Ankama Shield popping up. So I asked to send a confirmation code to my email, but they NEVER arrive! I've tried to send over 50 of them now, nothing works out!

Please help me?
Thanks In Advance.

Those having issues getting into account management after activating the shield probably have stolen accounts to begin with lol.
Not necessarily... Take into consideration that there are kids playing this game who do not even know what e-mail they used. There are some who played for a lot of years that have changed/phased-out their old e-mail address. There are also the case of players using multiple e-mails for their multiple accounts.

That accounts for some of the reasons on the players side, there are other reasons on the companies side also. Nobody expected such a global company to fail in security in the first place.

I really hope that this sheild works to protect our accounts. It may be a game but it is how I choose to spend my time & I'd like for my accounts to be left as I leave them. This is a Great Idea I just hope that maybe we can have a chance to re-do the security questions again. so that someone can't try to change the email address & actually do it because they guessed the security question?? Just a thought.

=/= does this mean blinky eyes?

It means "not equal to", for people who can't find the ≠ key.
