Reaching out for The Zenith...
2012-03-30 21:50
A zenith is the point where an orbiting body reaches the peak of its arch from the point of view of an observer. It's high noon; the moment when the sun is the brightest and most illuminating.

The Zenith is a collection of experienced and well-rounded players who will be responsible for reading and collecting all of the opinions and input of our community about DOFUS, and then summarizing these opinions for the developers. They must be people of exceptional talents: curious, intelligent, diplomatic, eloquent, experts in English, respectful, and above all... they must love DOFUS.

The members of the Zenith will have the privilege of having their summaries of our community's opinion delivered directly to the development team, thanks to our new crew of amazing player translators who have already been recruited. With their help, we'll also be able to have more feedback directly from the developers, and that's always a good thing!

If you're interested in being one of these amazing, splendiforous people, check out the requirements and application form on our Zenith Recruitment profile.

Please don't post your application in this thread, or on in a comment on the profile. Make sure to use the Ankabox system to send your app.

I sent one, and I can assure you that if I get selected I will try my best to not sit there and say great job Ankama all day. I was hoping they would require that you at least have your main at level 200 tho. In my opinion it is hard to be truly knowledgeable about a class before you have finished leveling it. Granted there may be extremely knowledgeable level 50s, but I would think that would be the exception to the rule.

Oh great, instead of the community speaking out against all of ankamas bad ideas, they are going to choose some people who are for ankama and all their bad updates so the updates will look to be a success. Like how they are forcing everything to revolve around kolo so people have to do kolo to support their characters and therefor its a success. Its like saying frig is a success for p2p... since only p2p people can get to frig.
its because of those "bad updates" that izmar's finally pushing this. she's pushing to get a group of people who actually care enough about the community to take an active voice in bettering classes and the game for all players. if all she wanted was a brainless group of "yes-men" she'd have not even announced this, let alone hinted at it to people. no, she'd have simply let the community wallow in hate. that she cares enough about the community to launch something that has a very very good chance of imploding in her hands should be enough for people to realize she cares. that she's attempting to provide an alternative method of speaking with the devs on a path that is nearly entirely autonomous from her interaction and involvement means she knows that we want to be included in the process of changing dofus, not after the fact on the test server, but an active part in influencing what goes ON the test server. its also a not-so-surprising bit of proof of how much she's willing to use her job to assist the community in its concerns. its all too common that people that share the similar job as izmar are content to simply do the bare minimum of their job. izmar not only manages the community on a macro scale, she also manages the community in smaller scales, starting up and running events, speaking with players not only on the forums, but also on Teamspeak and the IRC channel, and staying long past closing hours to do all of this. its not the mark of someone who doesnt care, its the mark of someone who's being treated as a dart board for the people over here doing things beyond her control.

the 3 people she's selected to be the french-speaking face of this group will be the ones that bring forward our concerns and suggestions right up to the face of the devs, and bring what the devs say back to us. call it appeasement, call it a success, call it whatever you feel necessary, it is something that will get the devs to listen to input from more communities. whether or not they listen to that input is out of our hands, BUT the input getting to them is no longer a dream that relies on izmar's already preoccupied and too-valuable time. and aries, no a community is not a handful of people. that handful of people REPRESENT the community's general opinion. if you'd have read izmar's posts about this, both this one and the one in the suggestions forum, you'd know that there WILL be a public side to the Zenith forum for the members to put threads into for the wider community to provide their own input in. the only difference is that regarding the input the community gives, it is not going to be taken 100% as what needs to be suggested. the members will have the overall final say in what gets sent to the french forums, and they will have access to proprietary information regarding further updates that will come that they can provide their input in with.

if players think that there's something that they can contribute to the game, i sincerely recommend pressing submit on your ankabox application, not press submit on a complaint-filled post when you have this very rare and very valuable opportunity to make your opinions count. i certainly plan on making my voice heard no matter what, whether its as a Zenith member or by starting and contributing to as many threads as it takes. my opinion will be heard, i'll help others get theirs heard, and i will make sure i can make an impact. i challenge any one of you with complaints about dofus and the updates ankama are coming out with to put in your applications to this. dont half-think it either, treat it like an interview that your life depends on, and that means being honest, thorough, and more importantly, be nice. honestly, if someone like raelclap is capable of showing that they can have a nice, friendly, thought out discussion, i'm pretty sure the rest of you can as well.

now then, anyone else going to send in an application? or am i the only one that cares enough about the community to do so?

I strongly encourage anyone who is confused or unsure about this tribunal to check out my profile, it explains the responsibilities of the Zenith members:

Main Tasks
These are the primary responsibilities required of Zenith members.

Zenith members are requested to summarize feedback from the English-speaking community on any matters relating to the evolution of the game (balancing, content, graphics, development, community, technical problems and bugs, etc…). This is the most important of all Zenith duties.
Members are expected to initiate discussions in the public Zenith forum based on the community’s opinions and their personal views in order to develop ideas together.
Members are invited to participate in various phases of beta testing for DOFUS and post their opinions and conclusions for the development team on the private Zenith forum.
Members may be given specific requests for information by the developers or the DOFUS Community Manager, or may be asked to review, read, and comment on the first specific elements of future game changes (such as rules of a tournament or event, or class balancing measures).

This and much more Zenith information can be found on my profile.

The community is not a hand full of people, the community is something that everyone has a say in, not just the person with his friends or guilds opinion.

Also, with the questions their asking in their essay questions, they are looking for someone near the minimum age requirement for the game...
So it's better to sit in silence than at least be represented by some people? And if you or your friends have opinions on things then why not encourage them to communicate their views? If you don't agree with something then keeping quiet about it changes nothing.

What does the fact that the requirement is near the minimum age restriction for the game matter? It's not like they are going to pull names out of a hat, every application is going through a screening process and only the most suitable applicants will be chosen.

I know what a zenith is....I believe this is a great idea.
I would love to participate in this.
However people (including MODS) have critizised me and found fault in me
to the point of baning me for a short time because I like to speak my mind.

I love Dofus, I think it has it's issues.
When those issues are brought up, theyu are ignored "like this will be LOL"

One year ago I submited a ticket regarding how I lost 700kk in the market,
because the server decided to go into backup mode while I was in the middle of selling scrolls. I lost the whole shabang!
No big deal, I took the lumps and swallowed my pride...

Anothe time I spoke out for everyone regarding the Grozilla Island and how frustrating it was when all the lvl 200 used us lower levvels to gain access,
then when time came to return the hard work we all put out, the level 200s
took their super hero emotes and ignored us little people.
I got warned by a MOD for voicing my opinion then "Hey I was mad"
Still gets my blood boiling...wth I'm a sac "that's what we do" lol

So now you need the Knights of the round table to help?
I am Knight-Owl
I am a Dofus KNight!
I have pride!
And I am for the people!
I stand up for good!
Even when people have trashed my name!
Even when Loved one's lost faith in me!
Even when friends be-friended me!
I am here!
I am KNIGHTOWL!
the Owl stands for Wise, that I am!
The Knight stands for Shivelry, that I may be!
But most of all I stay up too late playing Dofus hence the Knight-Owl LMAO!!!
I kneel to thee and offer my service in heart and soul for the people of Dofus!!!!
I am here if you need me sir Izzy

Oh yeah and one more thing (like I haven't asked this a million times before)
Kindly fix my character page "Knight-Owl" it doesnt work!
HUGE THANK YOU AGAIN!

Don't you think your jumping to conclusions just a little bit here? The entire goal of the group is to get feedback and criticism from the community and get actual ideas and suggestions for ways to improve things. The whole idea for the group is to have our community's opinions represented. It's not like they are just going to sit there and say "Oh this crappy update is awesome Ankama, good job."
