 Contadino

Your wildest dream is to run through daisy fields, meet plaited girls and work in the open air? Well, join Farle's guild and become a peasant!

This is the perfect profession for when you start out - it's a modest but sure way of earning money. The resources you collect will be some of the most commonly used in the World of Twelve and so your items will always sell.

But the competition is also very stiff so you'll find yourself spending long days swinging your scythe back and forth along the meadows of the world. And then there are the constant trips to the workshop!

But at the end of the day, being a peasant is a pleasant way to make a living and it's easy too! If you decide to become a baker afterwards, the skills you learn as a peasant will serve you well.

If you like nothing more than being side by side with a scythe all day long, you'll love the agricultural life of a peasant. When you get to Incarnam, go and see Foreman Ikure (3,3) and he'll train you up at the drop of a straw hat.

You don't like rushing around? You'd rather discover the game at your own pace before thinking about pocketing piles of Kamas? Don't worry about it! You can always learn the profession later on. Once you've made your mind up, go and see Emia Elliesol in Astrub (7,-25) or the famous Farle Ingalsse near Amakna (5,6).

It's all very well to learn the trade, but you can't do a thing until you get yourself some tools!
If you decide to take up the trade of peasant while you are still in Incarnam, you'll get a free Apprentice Farmer's Scythe from Foreman Ikure. If you make your mind up later and become a peasant later on, you'll have to pay Emia Elliesol 150 Kamas for one of her Farmer's Scythes. You can also get one of Farle Ingalsse's Scythes in exchange for a small favour.

That's it! You got the tools, you've got the know-how, nothing remains but to get down to business!

You now have all you need to get to work, so put your weapon where it won't hurt anyone, equip your scythe and go to the nearest field. Click on a cell where cereals grow and select the action 'Reap' to collect the resources. The resources you harvest will be stored in your inventory.

When you start practicing your profession, you'll only be able to collect one type of resource: Wheat. Once you get a little experience under your belt, you can move on to new resources. The list below tells you the different levels required for each resource you can collect:

  • Wheat (level 1+)

  • Barley (level 10+)

  • Oat (level 20+)

  • HHops (level 30+)

  • Flax (level 40+)

  • Rye and Rice (level 50+)

  • Malt (level 60+)

  • Hemp (level 70+)

It's not unknown for busy farmers to be snuck up on by an enchanted scarecrow as they concentrate on their work. We call these aggressive creatures resource protectors and if you succeed in killing one of them, you'll go away with 50 units of cereal. If you're really lucky you might even pick up a very valuable Magic Ear:

  • Golden Wheat

  • Barley Sugar

  • Gold-Bearing Oats, Magic Oat

  • Bright Hop

  • Storm Flax

  • Resistant Rye

  • Euphoric Hemp

Have you collected enough cereals? You can try to sell them in the nearest marketplace if you like, or otherwise you might want to expand your skills and do more than simple harvesting. After all, you're trained in making flour too. To do this, go to the nearest peasants' Workshop.

Do you have enough cereals to feed an army? You should think about using it to make flour, which is essential to the baking profession. That way, you'll gain XP too. In fact, you'll gain some experience each and every time you create a unit of flour. The more grains you grind the more complex the recipes you unlock will be. To test a recipe, click on a crusher and select the action 'Grind'. Slide the ingredients into the slots available and indicate the number of units required. If the recipe is valid, an image will appear in the item slot. Finally, click on 'Combine' and Bob's your uncle!

The complexity of a recipe is defined by the number of slots required to complete it, each slot holding one type of ingredient.

  • 2 slots (level 1+)

  • 3 slots (level 10+)

  • 4 slots (level 20+)

  • 5 slots (level 40+)

  • 6 slots (level 60+)

  • 7 slots (level 80+)

  • 8 slots (level 100+)

Like with the craft professions, the more complex a recipe is, the more experience you'll gain if you manage to do it. But the lower your level is, the less likely you will be to succeed in using it... bear in mind that no recipe is a guaranteed success.
