Ecaflips are Warrior gamblers who always turn up in the most surprising places... An Ecaflip is happiest when gambling - for all or for nothing. But be careful, it is a very serious matter for these creatures, they won't hesitate to gamble their lives on a throw of the dice if it means victory...
Each time you level up in combat, you'll receive 5 points which you can use to improve your characteristics and one point for your spells. You should spend these points carefully and establish a direction in which you want your character to evolve.
In the table below you'll see how much it costs to improve each characteristic. The more you invest in any one characteristic, the more points you'll have to spend to continue improving it.
VITALITY will always cost one point and WISDOM will always cost three.
| Cost in points for each characteristic . |
1 for 1 | 2 for 1 | 3 for 1 | 4 for 1 | 5 for 1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intelligence | 0 to 20 | 21 to 40 | 41 to 60 | 61 to 80 | 81+ |
| Strength | 0 to 20 | 21 to 40 | 41 to 60 | 61 to 80 | 81+ |
| Agility | 0 to 50 | 51 to 100 | 101 to 150 | 151 to 200 | 201+ |
| Chance | 0 to 100 | 101 to 200 | 201 to 300 | 301 to 400 | 401+ |
STRENGTH is the basic characteristic of the Ecaflips and it is this aspect that will require the least number of points capital to increase. STRENGTH increases the intensity of Earth damage, which is vital to the effectiveness of your spells, and the power of Neutral damage.
Bluff randomly inflicts Air or Water-type damage.
What sets the Ecaflips apart is their constant juggling with the dice of chance. Their spells can turn out to be incredible powerful or pitifully weak, and so Ecaflips have to evolve and gain experience while all the time being subject to the fickle winds of chance.
Regardless of the basic course you decide to take with your character, you'll find yourself using these fundamental spells again and again:
Perception, Clover, FELINE'S LEAP, WHEEL OF FORTUNE, SUMMONING CLAW, SMELL
These are your class spells, so you would do well to get to know them inside out.
Note on the Spell Rekop : this spell is devastating on a critical hit, because it inflicts damage on all four elements. If used well, it can become an important part of a multi-elementary Ecaflip's strategy.
As for your close combat weapons, you'll mainly be using a Sword (100% damage) and also Daggers (95% damage). Having said this, nothing is stopping you trying out the other weapons available to you, but your damage will fall to 90%.
As for choosing your attack spells, this will depend on the element you decide to specialise in. The Earth Ecafips are the most common types because they are the easiest to play. You might also want to be original and go for another element.
Earth Ecaflips are amongst the easiest characters to evolve. They have a wide choice of elemental attack spells to choose from and have no trouble finding suitable weapons for their close combat encounters. These Ecaflips invest their points capital in STRENGTH so as to increase the intensity of their Earth damage, but also their Neutral damage.
Earth Ecaflips will do their best to equip items that bring STRENGTH. In close combat, Ecaflips may equip a good sword such as the Powerful Knight Sword or later on, the Raziel.
The Earth Ecaflip's attack spells are: The Earth Ecaflip's attack spells are: , ALL OR NOTHING, FELINE SPIRIT, PLAYFUL CLAW, CLAW OF CEANGAL, REKOP, FATE OF ECAFLIP
As well as the spells that Ecaflips acquire as they evolve, they can also count on the spell FELINTION which they can buy in their class temples. With this attack, they can heal themselves and can, to a lesser degree, steal life using the Earth element.
Air Ecaflips set themselves apart by their incredible mobility. Their AGILITY also increases their chances of striking a critical hit, which is always useful. If they can, these Ecaflips will increase their characteristics using scrolls rather than use their capital points. Spending a little on CHANCE is also strategically advisable, mainly because it will increase damage dealt by bluff.
Air Ecaflips will attempt to improve their AGILITY using bonuses from their equipment. They'll also be on the lookout for items that bring additional MP or critical hit bonuses. So as to increase damage dealt in close combat, they will choose an Air sword such as Wind Kwakblade or a solid pair of daggers such as Otof'Mai'We Daggers.
The Air Ecaflip's attack spells are: bluff, rekop
Although they have many healing spells, Ecaflips will return again and again to the spells, CLOVER and REFLEX.
Air Ecaflips may sport a pair of daggers such as Kitten Tails, if they have already increased their CHANCE.
Although they are rarer than their Air equivalents, Water Ecaflips have all the same spells at their disposal , the difference being that they do not have a critical hit bonus due to AGILITY. They are also be more difficult to evolve due to the fairly high points capital required to increase CHANCE. Improving their characteristics with scrolls is therefore advisable
Water Ecaflips will endeavour to acquire as many CHANCE points as they can using their equipment. Their greatest companions on the battlefield are their Water-type weapons such as the daggers Ergot Mina or the Ice Kwakblade.
The Water Ecaflip's attack spells are: bluff, rekop
As with its Air counterpart the Water Ecaflip can choose to play on the double damage offered by the Kitten Tails daggers. In order for this technique to be effective, they have to invest in AGILITY scrolls.
Fire Ecaflips have 2 highly effective attack spells which they receive at a relatively low level, however the high cost of improving intelligence makes these characters quite difficult to evolve. Ideally, their characteristics should be evolved using scrolls rather than points capital.
Fire Ecaflips endlessly seek ways to increase their INTELLIGENCE and with a good Fire type sword in their hand such as Fire Kwakblade, these creatures are to be avoided
The Fire Ecaflip's attack spells are: topkaj, ROUGH TONGUE, REKOP
Fire Ecaflips are less powerful than their Earth counterparts but their INTELLIGENCE considerably increases their initiative which can prove a strategic trump card.
As their name indicates, multi-elemental Ecaflips combine spells of at least two specific elements. Often the combination is formed between the Earth element and a second complementary element, but playing an Air/Water Ecaflip is also entirely possible. These types of characters can prove very valuable in the heat of strategic combat.
It is not advisable to evolve your character based on more than two attack elements. Your capital points will be spread too thin and your character will lack focused strength, making it an impractical option.
