Hi,

The deployment of the Inter-Server Kolossium will begin on Tuesday, July 12, on the Bowisse, Danathor, and Djaul servers.

This thread is meant to keep you informed as regularly as possible of the project's advancement and evolution.
First Ankama intervention
Hi everyone!

The patch deployed earlier in the week corrected issues that were discovered with the matchmaking system.

At this time, our initial testing is returning positive results, so we're going to launch the second phase of ISK deployment and activate the system on 4 new servers as of 10:30 AM (Paris time) this morning.

The servers are:
  • Jiva
  • Lily
  • Menalt
  • Ombre

However, there are still some rare causes of problems when fights are canceled. If you encounter this problem, please report it to us on the Problems and Solutions forum in as much detail as possible.

We will be watching over this new deployment, and if all goes well, we'll be back soon to update you on the next step for the system and which servers will have it activated in step three.

The following servers have access to the ISK system as of the end of server maintenance on July 26, 2016:

  • Nomarrow
  • Ereziah
  • Rosal
  • Nehra
  • Solar
  • Helioboros
  • Maimane
  • Dark Vlad
  • Rushu
  • Zatoishwan

Please let us know if you see any problems or have any feedback about this new system. Thanks!

Edit: Shika and Aermyne also have access to the ISK as of July 26th
The following game servers will have access to the ISK after the 08/02/2016 maintenance is over:

  • Edasse
  • Bolgrot
  • Aguabrial
  • Li Crounch
  • Ulette
  • Hel Munster

ISK deployment:

If the activation of the ISK on these servers works correctly, we are planning on adding a much larger number of servers (up to 13 servers) during the 08/09/2016 maintenance. We are still progressing with caution in regards to this migration of game servers to the ISK. We need to check, step by step, that our architecture performs adequately despite the rising number of servers logging into the ISK.
The current results are encouraging and this is why we are currently migrating more servers every week.

Unwanted cancellation of fights:

A fix for the fight cancellation bugs has been deployed on Tuesday, July 26th, and has greatly reduced the fight cancellation issues, as the most common trigger for this bug has been fixed.
We may still have about 0.1% unwanted fight cancellation issues (this percentage is weighed up against the total number of fights) to fix.

Looking for a fight sometimes takes an abnormally high amount of time for characters with a high rating:

Some characters with really high ratings are having trouble finding fights, and sometimes have to wait a long time (for instance, we've observed an average 10 minutes wait for character with a rating of more than 4,700).
We still have several servers to connect to the ISK, which will increase its global population; although some wait will be necessary as well while the new arrivals take the time to increase their rating, thus increasing the number of characters with high ratings that are available to fight.

But it's still a phenomenon that is, sadly, quite frequent in PvP games that use a ratings system for their matchmaking, as the amount of people who are on top of the rankings is always, no matter what, small.
To our knowledge, there is no ideal solution to this issue.

Wrongful initialization of the group rating:

This modification is planned for an upcoming Update: the rating used for group fights will now be initialized correctly; it will follow the character's solo rating as long as said character hasn't done a group fight.

Petsmount or Pet being unequipped when starting a fight:

This issue has been fixed and these items are no longer abnormally unequipped.

Items impossible to equip for ISK fights:

Some low-level items linked to event-specific content cannot be equipped for ISK fights. This issue will be fixed in an upcoming Update.

XP multiplier (for secondary characters) doesn't work:

This issue will be fixed in an upcoming Update.

Life points aren't maximized at the start of the fight:

This issue will be fixed during the 08/02/2016 maintenance, and characters will now have all their life points when they join an ISK fight.

No fight offered:

These past few days, the ISK servers "froze" and no fight was offered. This issue has been fixed on the morning of 08/01/2016.

Thank you all for your feedback and propositions that are helping us improve the ISK.
The ISK will be fully deployed, on all servers, during the next two weeks.
Here are the servers that will benefit from the last two steps of the migration:

Thursday, 08/11

  • Silouate
  • Kuri
  • Tinieblas
  • Allister
  • Nomekop
  • Raval
  • Farle
  • Vil Smisse
  • Goultard
  • Alma
  • Rykke Errel
  • Helséphine
  • Crocoburio

Tuesday, 08/16

  • Sumens
  • Buhorado
  • Domen
  • Spiritia
  • Hécate
  • Otomaï
  • Silvosse
  • Amayiro
  • Hyrkul
  • Pouchecot
  • Many
  • Mylaise
  • Brumaire
  • Agride

And with that, the full ISK deployment will be finally over. Thank you for your feedback, and please don't hesitate: keep it coming!
One of the servers that hosts the ISK system crashed abruptly last night at about 1:30 AM (Paris time). Another server immediately picked up the load to manage all fights that began after the crash, but all of the fights being handled by the downed server were incorrectly flagged as abandoned by the players involved (including the 30 minute waiting penalty for abandoning a fight) when they were canceled by the server's crash.

In response to this event, we are working on the following issues:
  • Improving the distribution of server load due to ISK fights between its different servers.
  • Attempting to find a way to avoid flagging fights canceled by the server as player dropout (so players aren't penalized with a 30 minute wait for technical incidents on our part).

Our apologies for the trouble, and our thanks to you for your patience as we work to improve this game feature.
The servers that host the ISK fights have been updated at 14:00 (Paris Time) today in order to better handle the repartition of the fights between the servers, and thus limit the risks of having one server saturating and eventually crashing (an issue that was met last night, around 1:30 - Paris Time).
