Complete Str Iop Guide

By NoobCapt#4052 - FORMER SUBSCRIBER - May 18, 2011, 04:29:49
Note to the reader: I personally have not reached 200 yet, but I've listed what I will do and what I did. I'm somewhat experienced, most questions can be answered, but no doubt there are better str iops out there wink.

The Strength Iop is devastatingly powerful with the gaining of the spell ‘Iop’s Wrath’ in PvM. Unfortunately, in PvP, the only type of Str Iop that succeeds is either a Str/Int hybrid or an endgame 12 AP build. Due to the pricey nature of both of these builds, I will be focusing on an endgame PvM 10 AP strength Iop build. The advantage of this build lies in the ability to solo most mobs upon obtaining Sword of Iop and Iop’s Wrath, from 100 to endgame. They are also a great boost to all teams, speeding up any fight considerably.

I will guide you through the lower levels till the higher ones. There are many choices, but I will attempt to divulge the one I used. It has appeared to be the fastest.

NOTE TO THE F2P PLAYER: This guide is attemptable up till ~ level 70 as an F2P. Any further requires P2P.

Overview:
The Iop or Iop's Heart are excellent damage dealers. They have a range of buffs and attack spells which allows them to deal massive damage. Their attack spells range from having effects such as taking MP (Cut) to massive dealing, as the mighty Iop's Wrath (From the Dofus Wiki).

Agility Iop:
Agility Iops are excellent to start off as, but they gradually lose power between new equipment and spells, after which they get a boost to keep them going on par with other classes. In the endgame, they are often slightly weaker than their Int or Str counterparts. Often requested as ‘ratters’ or Kani leechers (along with the Int Cra), their AoE found in the spell Celestial Sword is powerful, with an unfortunate lack of versatility due to its’ AP cost of 4. They have inconsistent ranged attacks, but level the fastest in lower levels. Their main spells consist of (in this order): Celestial Sword, Sword of Judgment, Power, Moon Hammer, Divine Sword.

Intelligence Iop:
Intelligence Iops have a relatively weak-average start, staying on par with most classes, getting a little lapse in the 50s, and a huge start with obtaining the spell Strengthstorm. In the endgame, they are sliightly stronger than agility Iops, and on par with the strength Iops, whilst unfortunately lacking a good AoE attack. Often used as powerful PvPers, they are extremely versatile with a 3 AP attack in Strengthstorm, as well as Cut at level 6. Unfortunately, they lack in non-linear AoEs. This makes them viable for PvP and fights with smaller mobs. They level the fastest from 60-70. Their main spells consist of (in this order): Strengthstorm, Power, Cut, Sword of Fate, Intimidation.

Strength Iop:
Strength Iops are an extremely viable build from both level 1 and 200. They have one of the slower starts, due to the lack of spells, and are quite boring to play until the gaining of Sword of Iop. In the endgame, they are arguably the most useful, and have been proved to do the most damage out of any Strength build (excluding Punishment). Post-Ancestral Set, Str Iops will out-level any other Iop build, in the same training time. They lack in super-long range spells, but have devastating CC abilities. Their main spells consist of (in this order): Sword of Iop, Concentration, Iop’s Wrath, Intimidation, Mutilation.

Newbie (1-29):
If I were you, buy P2P now. If not, you’ll have a slower start. First, grab either a Boon Set or an Adventurer Set. Pressure your way up till level 6, and put your points into wisdom. At level 6, reset Pressure, and level Divine Sword. Buy a Slash, with the bonus from Boon / Adventurer, you should be able to equip it. For your other ring, get an Arachnoring. Train at either Incarnam Chafers, or Snappers at the Inlet. Put all points into wisdom. If you are P2P, at about level 15, attempt one whole round of your dopples, and one Iop doploon, and another random doploon (reset doploons + Bunch of Keys (BoK) + Brokle). Start saving money. After level 5 Divine Sword, level up Increase to 5. Obtain Brokle from Iop Class Master. Save money. Lots of money. Start obtaining Tofu Set pieces.

Beginner (30-59):
At level 30, buy a Carnivorous Staff and a Toady. At 36, get Mad Tofu Cloak (MTC). Huge damage boost. Try to get pieces of the Tofu Set as well as fill-ins. As F2P, go to crackrocks (mobs of 1-2), Astrub chafers (mobs of 1), small mobs outside the Minotoror Dungeon, Mushds, or Field Dungeon with a friend. As P2P, choose Lousy Pigs, Piglets, or single Scaraleaf mobs (non-white). Keep pumping wisdom. Up Vitality to level 5, or save for Power. I would suggest Vitality, as even with Power, it requires an extremely lucky roll for you to one hit KO a crackrock w/ Sword of Judgment (SoJ). Start obtaining the White Scaraleaf + Wind Kwak Set fill-ins. Up SoJ to level 5 as soon as you get it. With a 6 AP set, you can do Increase + Hit. With an 8 AP set (Crow Set + Kam Ammy), you can do Brokle + Hit. I would suggest 6 AP, for more agility and wisdom. Up Power / Vitality (whichever you skipped) to 4. Save points. Keep the wisdom going.

Page (60-99):
At level 60, there are two paths. You can keep your Agi equipment, buy some Int gear for 10 levels, and go back to Agi at 70 (Celestial Sword), or keep going Int from 60-100. I bought some cheap Int gear and went back to Agi for much quicker levelling. For Int, buy a Turkocape, Royal Gobball Headgear, Treechnid Root Bow, Jelliboots + Jellibelt, and a Gelano + Red Scararing. Do not bother getting God Rod for three levels - It just isn’t worth it. Upon 70, immediately up Celestial Sword, even if it means using a round of doploons to forget Strengthstorm. After level 70, sell all your Int gear (excluding Gelano, but do sell the Kam Ammy). Buy Aerdala equipment, excluding Daggers, Hat, and Cloak. Another worthwhile option is come level 80, the Royal Coco Blop Set. If you want to do this, use wisdom / agi equipment for the fill-ins (Aerdala Amulet, Silimelle's, Adelus, and Aerdala Getas). Saving Spell Points during this period is vital, for three level 6 spells immediately upon 101, as well as the other useful ones. Train at Dopples (Dopple Territory), as to achieve Dopple Stones for your PDB to be used at level 100. Kanigers are pretty good exp, and if you have a few friends around your level, Enchanted Lakes might be a possibility.

Apprentice (101-143):
Time for the Str Iop! Your spells upon 106: Concentration (5), Sword of Iop (4), Iop’s Wrath (5), Sword Skill (6), Intimidation (6), Jump (6), Mutilation (5), Pressure (6)and Power (5). However, if you plan to run the Gobball Dungeon for good exp (10 AP Str Iop takes about 6-7 mins for a run), exchange Pressure for Soul Capture. It’s worth it - trust me. Remember to forget Increase, Strengthstorm, Celestial Sword, SoJ, Divine Sword, and all the others you don’t need. Train at Anc for 7-8 levels. Soloing Plain Cracklers (PC) / Kanigers is so-so. PC's will be better, due to resists and stone drops. A good option is to start Hunter now. It's a fantastic profession for any Iop. You get out of buying bread, and you get more pods. A few good equipment ideas:

Hat: Terrdala Hat* / Chief Bwork Helmet -> Ancestral Treechelmet -> Solomonk* / Dora Bora / Zoth Warrior Helmet (This stage is optional) -> Moowolf Headgear
Amulet: Royal Pippin Amublop* / Chief Bwork Amulet -> Ancestral Torc -> Renewed Amulet -> Amoolet
Weapon: Fake Ceangal Claw / Pink Claw* / Evening Razor / Dagger Sives / Ostwogoth Daggers
Rings: Gelano + Royal Pippin Blop Ring* / Terrdala Ring* -> Ancestral Ring -> Moowolf Ring
Belt: Powerful Dazzling Belt -> Moowolf Belt
Cloak: Grazor -> Ancestral Treecape -> Moowolf Cape
Boots: Orino Boots -> Ancestral Shinguards -> Moowolf Boots

Notes: Solomonk can help with Agi requirement on weapons. Instead of Ancestral Treecape + PDB, you can get Ancestral Treechelt + PDC.

If you are tight for cash, a complete White Rat Set + Gelano gives 10 AP as well. This would require Celestial Sword (temporarily), though.
* = Recommended

As soon as you hit 114 and have your (mostly complete) Ancestral Set, START COLLECTING MATS FOR 1. Moowolf Ring 2. Renewed Amulet 3. Moowolf Boots!!! This is of extreme importance. If you start any later, you will not make it in time (unless if you are buying the set..). Contrary to the level guide, get the materials for the Moowolf Belt last. If you equip it first, you will not be able to have a sword as well as 10 AP. Your Moowolf Set priority:

Moowolf Ring
Moowolf Boots
Moowolf Cloak
Moowolf Headgear
Moowolf Amulet
Moowolf Belt

Along the way, get SoI to 5, and either Vitality / Cut to 6. If you chose wisdom options, get Cut to 6. If you chose damage options, get Vitality to 6. Then, save points for a rapid succession of Mutilation + Power to 6 in the section.

Points should be allocated in Strength till 300, and then Wisdom all the way (unless if you haven’t scrolled wis, then strength all the way).

At around level 125, Gobball Dungeon will dry up as an exp source. I would suggest Crackler Dungeon with 2-3 more people, Plain Cracklers, and Moowolf Dungeon (good for two things!).

Overview as of Now:
Agi Iop is equipping a level 12x agility set from that level until nearly the endgame, with minimal changes. They are slowly losing power, until 18x.

Int Iops are very powerful, and PvPing their way to glory. They will quickly get SO set, and possibly even Minotot. Unfortunately, they are unable to play quick games (lack of AoE).

Str Iops are progressively rising, as both a team player and their ability to solo small mobs. You experience a brief lapse from 150-160, but otherwise your skills will continuously increase.

Journeyman (144-169):
Two options again: Str/Int PvP hybrid, and pure Str PvM.

Str/Int PvP Hybrid:
Powerful with Strengthstorm (SS), pure devastation with Wrath, and a fantastic AoE with SoI. Seems perfect. Disadvantages? Not actually that powerful. SS will do ~40-50 less damage per hit than pure Int, SoI about 55 less than a pure Str Iop, and almost 500 less with Wrath. However, they have an extreme versatility with the attacks: SoI far, SS medium, Wrath / Concentration / Pressure close. Set probability:

Soft Oak Set + Gelano + Limbo Wand + Orch / Crim DT. Devastating to even a Cra. Nothing can stay away, and nothing can get close (depends on what you want).

Still unfortunate because of the damage nerf. Also, this build is a dead-end in the endgame. SO is the last nearly-full Str/Int set, along with Obsidemon.

Str PvM:
This path is powerful, but requires CC. You should have a really good feel for all of your spells, when to use them, etc. Now a few more set options pop up, but after trying them out, they just can’t compare to the Moowolf Set’s +2AP.

Thierry Voodoo Mask: -Vit, and removes Moo Set Bonus of AP.
PDC / PDB is required if you decide to use the Voodoo Mask. Unless ...
Two good daggers appear as of now. Gagas, and Youyettes. Unfortunately, Youyettes are better, and require really pro Frigost stuff. If you choose daggers, which I highly do not suggest, simply because it ruins your SoI. 2 Muti + SoI just does NOT compare to 2x SoI.
Killarity Sword: Fantastic sword. Sure, looks pretty similar to Pink Claw, but with an eni in the team, you can do Muti + 2 hits. This allows for not +100, but +200 damage!

I personally only got the Killarity. If you’re tight for cash, just save for the Kukri Kura instead.

At these levels, it’s best to train in groups. With a total group level of ~750, do Rainbow Blop. With a total group level of ~900, do Royal Mastogob. With a total group level of ~300, go to Trools. With a total group level of ~400, Crackler is probably your best option. 1-2 Wooly Bow Meows are great, as well, for solo. Lonesome Pinetrails with a group of ~850 is epic exp. Remember to start getting materials for your Funguset and Kukri Kura.

Veteran (170-189):
The next grind comes up for your equipment. Fungus Cavern is difficult, if not insane. It’ll probably take you 4-5 hours with a mid-sized group (lv 700) to get all you need if everyone gives you everything (unlikely..). The equipment for this stage is optional. I personally got the mats for them and just stuck with moo, because until Awmigawd Band (Lv 194), you will not have a good way to get 10 AP. However, if you did, your set would probably look like this:

Hat: Thierry Voodoo Mask
Amulet: Amulet Cetera* / Amoolet
Weapon: Kukri Kura* / Killarity Sword / Gaga Daggers / Youyettes
Rings: Tash Ring + Gelano
Belt: Fungas Belt* / PDB
Cloak: Preposter Wrap / PDC*
Boots: Spore Boots
Mount: Gold / Crimson, Ebony / Crimson (for KK Agi req.), Plum / Crimson

Good thing about these levels is that you get Concentration level 6.
Your exp will primarily come from Royal Rainbow Blop, Pinetrails, Royal Mastogob, and farming for your mats.

Expert (190-200):
Your thoughts are probably ‘finally’. A good time to reach this level is ~1 - 1.5 years after you started. This set below will give you 10 AP, +27 crits, 140% dmg, 460 str, 290 wisdom, and over 2300 vit (maged str, perfect other). A perfect Turquoise is needed, but then you will have 1/2 on your Kukri Kura. W/ 1 mutilation, sword skill, and power on, you can do over 2000 damage a turn. Not bad. On the other hand.. Giger's Nightmare Blade is an option, but requires Somnambulist's Nightcap, Anium Ligature, so on and so forth. Peccary, with 1/2, can do up to 2800 damage a turn. I personally hate the fail rate, though. Full Fuji + Str/Agi gear + Godswrath Daggers might work as well for a str/agi hybrid.

Your final set:
Hat: The Kim / Punchinello's Mask / Fuji Snowfoux Headgear / Somnambulist's Nightcap- Crits, Str, Vit, Wisd. What more could you ask for?biggrin
Amulet: Amulet Cetera / Kralomansion* / Eroclite Amulet / Memori Amulet - Kralomansion for crits and range, Eroclite for crits, Cetera for range.
Weapon: Kukri Kura / Youyettes / Peccary Blade* / Giger's Nightmare Blade- Pecc is by far better, unless if you can get 1/2 on Kukri.
Rings: Awmigawd Band* / Gelano + Awmigawd Band - For 10AP.
Belt: Fungas Belt / Anium Ligature- With Spores, give a small boost.
Cloak: Fuji Snowfoux Cloak* / Inky Veil / Chee Cape / Hail Cape
Boots: Spore Boots / Hail Boots / Al Pinist's Boots

Noteworthy points:

Pressure vs. Concentration. This question has been asked many many times, and I will present my argument for it. Concentration is, in my opinion, by far better. Why? The only advantage of Pressure are 1. Cast limit and 2. Range. To be honest, range isn't much of an issue for Str Iops. Mainly, if you can reach him to use pressure, then you can most probably reach him to use concentration >_>. Another one that comes up is cast limit. Assuming you have 10ap at the endgame, 1x mutilation, 3x concentration, and 1x pressure would be the way to go. Mutilation boosts the damage by a total of +200.

Mounts: Mounts are 90% better than pets. Thus, I will only talk about the former.
From highest to lowest ranking:
Turquoise - Drops biggrin
Plum/Crimson - Range for SoI, decent str and vit
Turquoise/Crimson - Drops, str, vit biggrin
Emerald/Plum - More of a pvp mount, but works well enough for our purposes.
Gold/Crimson - Wisdom for cut and leveling, str and vit
Pink Dragoone - I lied. This thing is sexy.

Team? For the optimal team that goes with the Str Iop, I would suggest the following characters:

1. Intelligence Battle Eni - Heals, damage, buffs, the whole lot. With stimulating you can do Jump + Wrath wink.

2. Wisd/Cha Enu - MP ownage, drops, decent damage, and nice with Greed (+150str) - Thanks to Ounce for the last pointsmile.

3. Agility Sac - Good locking abilities, high meatshielding capabilities, and great for attract + wrath.

4. Agi/Str Sram - Invisibility of Others + Fear + Wrath. Locking abilities and damage.

5. Cha/Wisd Cra - High damage, gravity state to prevent running away from wrath (coincides really well), and general skillz.

6. Int/Str Sadida OR Int/Wisd Xelor - Sadidas have, LITERALLY, support spells pouring out of their butts. Xelors can give you some more AP, and can be an all-around annoyance to the enemy.

7. Agility or Int Eca - Agi Eca has high versatility, tremendous amounts of support spells, and Brokle can bring the best out of Bluff. Int can provide support heals and stuff.

Endgame Spells ($ = usefulness, out of 5 rating):

$$ Soul Capture (6) - 100% Soul rate. Optional, recommended.

$ Summoning of Chaferfu (1-6) - Very good if you have 1/2 on originally 1/50. Otherwise, don't up it. Optional.

$ Summoning of Arachnee (1-6) - Ditto. However, Chaferfu is a better option.

$ Release (4) - 4 for less AP cost. Optional.

$$$$ Sword Skill (6)

$$$$$ Intimidation (6)

$$$$$ Jump (6)

$$$ Pressure (6)

$ Compulsion (6) - Good damage buff to coincide with Concentration. Optional.

$$ Sword of Fate (3) - 5 AP cost. Optional.

$$$ Increase (6) - Good damage buff for those off turns. Optional but highly recommended.

$$$ Cut (6)

$$$$ Blow (6) - Epic for blowing enemies into your SoI AoE.

$$$$ Vitality (6)

$$$$ Power (6)

$$$$ Mutilation (6)

$$$$$ Concentration (6)

$$$$$Sword of Iop (6)

$$$$ Iop's Wrath (6)

$$$ Iop Dopple (6)

Where d'ya think the color could go? smile

Also, to the general consensus, should I put this up on the 'General Class Discussion' page to be submitted as a 'formal' Str Iop guide?

I wrote a whole Pro and Con post; unfortuantly internet had a minor issure and erased it.

to summarise I would appreaciate

More specific training areas from level - level. also which proffessions are ideal for us strength Iops

I skimmed through it, but it looks decent content-wise for guide that I assume is meant to be quick and easy to read, rather than one that goes too much into specifics and analysis.
However, I'd suggest doing up your formatting to make it a lot easier to read. Instead of having things in lines where it makes things difficult to read quickly and easily (like your spells in the 'path to 200' bit), try listing it out.
Also a brief reasoning as to your item selections would probably help, because it would let them know what to look out when making their own custom sets, if necessary, rather than having to infer based on their experience with the equipment and its effects on its effectiveness in battles.

Great read, thanks for posting. It will be a useful reference to use while I level my iop.

Btw another nice bonus for Iop/Enu team is lvl 6 greed (150str and 150 int boost is a nice).

Coli, I don't know how to use colors*_*!
Trevix, most sections have 'where to level' in it. Also, Hunter is mentioned as a good profession in the lv100 section.
Crines, Wrath is a situational spell. Outside of dungeons and epic-level hunting, it won't really be used much.
Will work on reasoning when I got the timesmile.
And ounce, thanks for the suggestion! biggrin

Dough, depends on your preference. I was thinking long-term when I was 110, so I got a PDB. I was too cheap to upgrade from anc belt to crowish, from crowish to moo. PDB gives you some lenience time with the moowolf set. You can get the belt at 143 instead of 126. PDC, however, is better if you have more money. If you're using an evening razor as your weapon, switch out a few anc set pieces for white rat, or chief bwork. Otherwise, that's a good idea.

Nice guid! But some questions.
Why is release recommended with iops having intimidation for lower ap and jump?
And why is Iops wrath not $$$$$?

Because It's usually not worth using it, risking to get into very very close combat that may kill you just to kill 1 monster for 7ap(most iops can't unless ap buffed jump away after 7 ap of 1 spell).

The usage of the spell is limited cuz:

High ap cost

Risky close combat is needed, you usually can't jump away.

You might get killed if there are other monsters around.

Hard to use as in pvp enemies always run from you, unless sac..

And in Pvm some monsters also run so if the distance is larger than your max ap +2 then wrath was charged for no good.
