It's a little mixed when it comes to resurrecting a player.

First of all, you need to have enough summon spots left to be able to resurrect an ally. For instance, if you have a total of 3 summons (1 base, +2) and you've summoned a Crackler and a Wyrmling, you'd be able to resurrect an ally. If you have the Crackler, the Wyrmling and a Gobbal out, you'll be unable to resurrect an ally. So in this aspect, it does count as a summon.

Then there is the matter of spell effects, namely the buffs and whip. If you whip an ally you've resurrected, he will suffer no damage. Also, from all the buffs, the effects that apply to all allies will be applied to the resurrected ally. So in this aspect, it does not count as a summon.

Lastly, when the Osa that resurrected an ally dies, the resurrected ally dies with him/her. So in this aspect, it counts as a summon.

On a side note: if you cast Spiritual Leash when you've got no room summons, the spell will be cast but the ally won't be resurrected. So be careful with that.

Edit: this is the the wrong section.... This is the Iop section, Spiritual Leash is an Osa spell.
