Pure Support Feca

By AnthonyClark#4670 - SUBSCRIBER - December 17, 2015, 21:57:02
Howdy Feca community,

I've finally gotten around to working with my feca and haven't played it since before the revamp. My Feca is around level 60(Fire seems the easiest to level) and I've noticed how there seems to be a much more fleshed out emphasis on damage this time around so I started wondering whether or not a pure support build was still a viable role to play. If so what element/skills should I be utilizing?

I plan on using it to support my Sram.

Update: I found this really conprehensive guide on imps village and decited to go with a Fire/Water hybrid! The range steal, MP steal, and damage prevention will go a long way to complementing my Sram any additional comments are still very welcome!

You can still be a good support, stealing every stat and shielding your main with appropriate shields. I'd suggest to invest a bit and max the spells for most of feca's spells are extremely useful even in support mode.

A support feca? Its possible. I see lots of support fecas. Your armors aint as protective as before. But the healing weapon might be your main usage. The immunity spells are still rocking. Gravity glyph is quite supportive to root your allies or gravity monsters, althought, many mosnters are immune to gravity glyph. @@

I, myself, would question if not an eni would work better than a support feca? You would get extra ap, better healings and being able to heal yourself.

The glyphs seem somewhat useful, gravitational glyph is definitely more situational than the spell description leads you to believe. I'm a little disappointed with the tank and protection roles to be honest because other classes seem to do more by providing heals than the feca does by preventing damage. I'm still below 100 so maybe when I get closer to 150 things will start to look up but as it stands right now, the glyphs debilitating effects are OK and the actual protectin and tanking abilities, while useful feels a bit underwhelming.

Intresting idea to compare healing with damage reduction. Im not sure if I agree with you. It depends what spell/weapon strikes you. If the spell has low base damage, it may not do much harm if the armor is on. Say Bearbaric sword, which normally could do 1.2k dmg hits is reduced to something like 200dmg. Thats 1k hp because of a spell which cost 2 ap.
On the otherside, if the feca is struck by Peccary sword, the damage will be real. It depends, it depends.

Then lets compare the Feca to the Masqueraider, which would you prefer when it comes to protecting your allies? The shields of a masqueraider or damage prevention of the Feca?

Rampart or Feca shield? I'm unfamiliar with how the latter works which I assume is the one your talking about because Rampart reduces a fixed amount based on your level.

* Rampart is the armor spell. Gives linear defense. This is always calculated first in damage calculations.
* Feca shield reduces damage by 25% of the final damage. Meaning, this spells is calculated last.

If feca casts armor and shield on himself, I believe he will be the best protected character. But shield can only be cast on one character and armors are weaker on allies than on himself.
Furthermore, armors and shields are fixed on levels. While Masq can improve his shields by better equipement and maging to the extremity.
Masq shields also cover for poison and pushback damage. Whilst feca's protection doesnt. If the ally has 1 hp left, he will be more secure with masq shields.

I will cast my vote on masq on the question of who protects his allies best. But I add in brackets that Feca is a better balanced class.

Cool, I didn't realize that Rampart was calculated that way and I concur, Feca's do seem the more balanced of the two but I don't really think that counts for much when other classes seem to accomplish more by either healing or throwing down a shield with noticeably less effort than the Feca who, lets face it, MUST read a situation and battle flow well to achieve arguably similar results and on a much smaller scale. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy playing the Feca and I'm sticking with it but when it comes to playing a supportive role in combat, its not all sunshine and unicorns.

Personally I don't see new Fecas as a full protector, but instead as a field manipulator and AP/MP remover with its glyphs, as well as a locker with Gravi glyph who has Barricade/Bastion for different situations. Feca now has a more aggressive and dynamic gameplay than before. And rampart is just more like a nice addition to Fecas fighting arsenal.

Fecas are still very good supporters, they just do it more indirectly than healing or masq's shields, messing the opponents up, reducing enemies' stats and their damage, locking enemies, etc.

I agree and that's the point I wanted to make, I wanted my Feca to fully protect my main, that was always the plan, but that was before the revamp, it just doesn't "protect" as much as I had hoped. It'll take some time to get used to this new "aggressive" Feca. My plan was to have this amazing end-game duo team, my main would be the attacker and the Feca would protect and support him.

Iop role is dmg dealing which he really shine, eni at healing, enu as disabler. Why can't feca be the role to "protect" and his allies like it's described, ofcourse they can but it's just too weak, especially without bastion and barricade. Because they are scared it will be just as Opie as before? Lol look at sadida.. Just wanted to point out facts..

I agree 100%, other classes like the Iop, Cra, Enu, and Eni, dominate the roles they play to the point where you can't replace them and then there's the Feca thats supposed to protect himself and his allies, you can't blame me for expecting him to dominate or otherwise OWN that role when other classes do and with relatively less effort.
