Str fecas and their spell backlash
By superbestofwar#6290 - SUBSCRIBER - January 06, 2016, 18:33:54In my use of the str feca I've concluded its super fun to play, but sadly the only negative for me is the strange range of backlash, anyone else think that it should be able to hit in front of the player in exchange for some dmg when hitting from the front?
while I'm advocating for fecas, wouldn't it be great if they had at least one spell that allows for close ranged dmg for cha, in ecaflips, all elements have the capacity of close ranged, even enis, which are used as a support class, have the capacity of close ranged dmg for all their elements.

Respond to this thread
1. Extremely high damage for just 3 AP
2. Not diagonal-only anymore
3. Does not hurt yourself anymore
So why does Backlash get this bad treatment?
Cha Fecas have it even worse. If you're locked you can't hit at all.
3 minimum range is absolutely ridiculous. This isn't a Cra.
With a feca you know were your strengths and weaknesses lie and have to use strategies around it. As Cha you know you risk having to stay at range, or be multi element to have another element cover close range.
I'd love to say, can't we increase Agi range spells, make Backlash linear and have no minimum range on Cha spells. Whilst this will make the class stronger, it will make it less fun and less challenging to play.
I see your point in comparing to other spells, but you have to take the whole concept of a Feca and Eca into account and all there other spells. I understand your frustration, and I hate to say the cliche 'learn how to play around it, or learn to play better', but frankly thats what it comes down too. I don't see Feca's getting changed for quite some time. I think they are very a well balanced and fun class to play.
1:Ecaflips have way less defenses than fecas, and being on close range for fecas is easier and more advantageous than it is for ecas, since they can mitigate the damage with shields and glyphs.
2: if fecas had powerful 1 range spells, they would get a bunch of lock and lock people on glyph of repulsion+blindness+flaming, which is cheap as all hell (trust me, I know).
3: Ecaflips are damage dealers primarily. OF COURSE they will have better damage than a class that is a support/large scale debuffer.
4: Backlash has a very powerful side effect that lowers enemy damage AND increases it's own, more range, and more casts per turn per target.
5: Fecas have more range overall.
6: Fecas have a spell that turns them immune to close combat damage, and one that turns them immune to long range damage AND give them buffs if hit on close range. Again, fecas would just build tons of lock and be cheap as all hell.
7: fecas can keep their damage buffs pretty much forever. Ecas have cooldown on their main damage buff.
I can keep going, but I think I made my point clear. Fecas don't have good 1 range spells because it would be absurdly cheap if they did, with all the glyphs and such. Ecas typically won't want to lock anyone, and even if they did, there's nothing that they can do with it that would be cheap.
I had this rant ready for months now, but I couldn't post it because forum was acting up.
