Still limited?

By Arrrrrrrrrrrgh#9445 - FORMER SUBSCRIBER - December 30, 2020, 07:45:05
Hello,
I haven't played the game in a few years.
Is the game still limited to astrub for f2p users?
(and i know that retro doesn't allow f2p to play)

Hello there!
Yes it is. Astrub area + few surrounding areas. This includes 4 dungeons and the one in Incarnam of course.

@Gengol: thank you for answering my question smile

I guess it is the same old game that is not worth investing time or money in...
I wish everyone good luck with the game and a happy new year ^^

This is so wrong! It's for sure limited if you don't have p2p but you can buy it with kamas too! And it's awesome - recently the whole Pandala Island has been revamped and completely new areas added. Dofus is constantly getting updates, new content and it's awesome! I'm highly encouraging you to come back - nostalgic feeling makes it even better! If you had any more questions or needed some advices on making kamas let me know!

Thank you for your enthusiasm but i kinda know the gist of dofus.
I have played on and off since open beta.
Ever since they removed most of the equips that drop from mobs it was kinda meh for me. Also the thing with the kamas? I don't wanna waste my time again each week devoting only to making kamas so i have enough to buy another week of p2p. Even if i can buy it with kamas, it is still p2p. I have also done that . Last time i also quit dofus because 90% of people i knew when they were online they were just leeching/looking to leech people in frigost. The other 10% were endgame players and i couldn't tag along because of my low level and crappy equips. So yeah, nostalgia is nice and all but is it really worth wasting weeks to get kamas? Not really, then you are spending more time getting kamas instead of basking in the nostalgia.

5 bucks for a month is as normal a price as any to play the full game.
And yes, if you spent that month making kamas to be able to subscribe again, you'll have a tough time.
It would also be a waste; if you can't spare 5 bucks/month its time to stop playing games for a bit and get some stuff on track irl ^^

I can afford to spend 5 bucks a month. But i don't see why i should spend that amount of money on a game i will barely play.
Thanks for the reply but i don't see why you felt the need to reply when i only wanted to ask about the limitations of f2p NOT if it is worth spending money or how I could spend time to make kamas to become p2p

Anyway, I wanted to try and install the game to see what else they messed up in the game AND to see if i was hacked while i wasn't using my accounts. But the launcher setup is stuck on 20% or so for the last half hour, restarting the program won't solve the problem. Sooo, there goes my interest in the game for at least another year...

@Gengol @Nightshade: if I wanted to spend 5bucks on nostalgia, i would just go to gog or steam and buy some old game(s) i liked and would have a more permanent result. Spending money on dofus or wakfu just makes it feel like a waste because every time i would spend money i would have to spend every waking moment in dofus just to feel like i get my money's worth spent on wakfu/dofus each time.

Also i don't really liked the idea to have to spend money only to find out they messed up another one of my favorite characters just because some people cried "unbalanced" or because someone had a shiny shitty bright idea of messing a character up.

Oh right, forgot to complain how making kamas in f2p is a bigger pain in the ass now because previously you could gather materials and just try to sell them to people who needed them for scrolls. But now (i guess) you would just be stuck gathering materials (if area is not overrun by bots or several other players) and HOPING a random craftsman finds the need to come look for someone selling resources. Because let's face it, starting crafting in f2p is totally not worth it because you are (don't know now) limited to lvl30 of a craft , no matter what level you had while you were p2p...

People are replying to you because you posted here asking folks for their input on the state of the game. It's to be expected that people will reply and encourage you to try the game, and try to engage you in further discussion about the points you've raised.

I don't agree with your views of Dofus either, and I think they're a bit outdated in 2021, but so be it. Subscription games, and MMO's that receive continued balancing and content updates, aren't everyone's cup of tea. Hopefully you find a game with a more agreeable monetary model and update plan.
