Still limited?

Actually i asked about their "input" on the state of f2p not the state of the game or if they recommend i subscribe again.

But please do tell me which of my views and how are they outdated? (honestly asking, not sarcastically) (my views are based on experience i had last time i played for more than a day or two which was about 10 years ago)

How are they outdated? Well, you say yourself that you haven't given the game a real chance for 10 years lol. They've made pretty dramatic changes to the game in the time since. And reading your other comments a little closer, that makes sense since you mention equipment drops as a sticking point for you, while folks who have been playing in the time since then have pretty much moved on.

I think your views of the game as it was back then are pretty valid, as the introduction of Dofus 2.0 and the first few years of updates were pretty rough. A lot of people ended up quitting at that point. I think, on the whole, more recent updates in the past 3 or 4 years have turned the game in a much different direction.

And you can get a taste of this direction in the updated f2p experience. For example, they've actually completely revamped both Incarnam and Astrub with new quests. Astrub in particular has a pretty in-depth quest line now, and the monsters in both zones have been totally revamped and been given more interesting mechanics.

Professions have also been completely changed, in that now you can have all professions on one character instead of being limited to a choice of 3. They also changed the experience system for professions to have a level cap of 200 instead of 100, so the new f2p cap for those is 60. Granted, they didn't change the xp curve, so 60 is the new 30 which was the old limit. However for gathering professions, since everything unlocks in increments of 10, you technically do get a bit more content there than before.

I think if you're trying to get yourself into the grind of buying Ogrines with kamas to pay your subscription as a f2p player starting from scratch, it'll be somewhat difficult. I know that was basically the meta in the earlier day of Ogrines, but I think the real-life economic situation has changed in the last decade. Inflation is very much a thing, however Dofus' prices have not increased at the same rate as other comparable commodities.
But I don't feel like the Ogrine grind is the most fun way to play as someone starting out in general. I know that was the go-to in the earliest day of Ogrines, but these days the folks who are going that route to stay subbed have built up some moneymaking infrastructure through maxed professions, runes, and other methods over time. And at that point, it's trivial to do on a week to week basis. I personally think it's a fair for a new player approach to dip into your pockets and pay for your initial subs, and *maybe* some Ogrines for some starting kamas too.

Thinking more about the economics of using cash to play Dofus, do consider the amount of gameplay hours you'll be getting out of your investment compared to other games. For instance, when I'm buying a $60 console game, I'm always justifying that kind of purchase to myself with the idea that I'll get a certain amount of hours of gameplay out of the investment.

I think a $5.50 subscription alone can get you a really solid amount of gameplay hours for that tiny investment over the course of the month. And a modest purchase of ~$20 purchase of Ogrines brings that up to ~$25.50, if you're looking for a totally optional yet helpful boost. It'd take around 3 months to pass that hypothetical $60 benchmark, and the amount of hours and overall value I've gotten out of Dofus would likely far exceed a general $60 console purchase.

Maybe I should have started off with that analysis. But I hope that puts the state of the game for f2p and beyond, plus the concept of using cash to play this game, into better perspective.
