Letter to Ankama: The State of the Echo Server

I've been trying this on and off for 14 years. Last time nearly 3 months ago with over 60 other players at the FR forum, as a response to not getting answers here. Unfortunately, so far 32 of those customers quit. We've given them so many tools and opportunities to expand this game but every single time we've been turned down, ignored, fooled or insulted. The international community is collapsing on all servers, and the damage is irreversible. Lets just deny it and build walls to stop all them Dofugrants.

Seriously though, Ankama doesn't believe us. They believe in statistics (which bots provide).

Thank you so much Setmeonfire for coming up with this suggestions ! I really hope that some of them will be listen. I really would love to be able to play again in a server were (after the merge) I have my character that I build over the last 6 years.
It was so sad to see the server slowly die - and I had find myself moving to Ilyzaelle to try to rebuild all; but it then I quitted since restarting all was just not fair...

Please Ankama listen us and try to focus more on the people more then the game...

as a solo player on echo im tired of being forced to pay up to pay up to 5mk for just 1 leech to get any end game quests done. There arent enough solo players to team up (took me almost 3 weeks just to do turqoise when it can be done in like 5 hours with a multi-accounter)

Playing a solo player is not easy, you need social skills. Start with your guild, then try to expand your net of friends.
You can't be successful if you play with strangers, you need to understand their interests and what motivates them so you can form parties.

But you "having to pay 5mk" is not a result of people multiaccounting, it's people fleecing you. They see that they can get something out of you and they sure do.

The fact that people can charge _mk to leech dungeons is because there aren't enough single account players doing dungeons together. Multi-accounting allows people to beat dungeons much more easily, so developers balance new content based on the power of multi-account teams. As a result the game content becomes more and more tailored toward multi-account players, and more people start multi-accounting or quit, and less single-account players are around to help each other.

I don't mean to blame the players who multi-account. I also started doing that after years of single-accounting. But it's also unfair to think single-account players are not successful just because they are not trying hard enough.

I disagree, I still have friends who mono-account and saying they HAVE to pay to get dungeons done is insulting them.

I have to disagree with you. I don't think anyone multi accounts because its fun or enjoyable. Personally I find it a necessity for achievements but I hate it otherwise for anything else. The success of Illyzaele is good reason to merge because Echo at this rate will die then everyone who hasn't moved will have no choice but to do so.

While yes its unfortunate that multi may have to go, you can still create multiple characters on one account and enjoy different classes to the full.
Now that I think about it Echo being mono might be the best for the English community.

There are definitely people who enjoy multi accounting. I am one of them. If it's limited or removed I'm out.

Well i must say server merge with other comunities has no benefit since the same issues you are listing in the thread i happenning both hispanic servers. And seeing you talk about echo i can understand italian, portuguese servers and also french servers are going through the same. All of this happens due to multi acounts... This doesnt happen in monoaccount servers. Why? Because if im multi why would i spend money on a piece of gear when i can farm for resources with x4 drops or x8 drops and craft it myself? Server seems dead because all players have their team already set up without needing to ask for people in /r or /b chat about anything. And due to this the only messages that comes afloat are % sellers and leechers.

I do not want Echo to be a mono-account server. I like to multilog and do things myself. I have a limited amount of time, so do not wish to be burdened with the extra task of finding others. MMO means we have the option to group, not the requirement. I often do help others when they ask, but I feel no obligation to always be part of a group.

As regards to earning kamas, with my limited play on Echo during Temporis IV, I have still earned enough to sub two accounts an additional year each. If people cannot earn kamas, they must not be meeting the demands of the market. Over the years, I have changed my profession focus many times, including resources, pets, mounts, idols, gear, crafting... whatever people want, I sell to them.

I watched Aermyne go down the drain. You know what killed it? Bad attitudes. I tried to plug the gaps when I led Unity, the dominant alliance near the end of the server, and basically was doing everything I could to make it a pleasant place. Yet, everyday I heard whining and complaints, exacerbated by sever tourists who came, particularly from French servers, to collect rare drops and cause AvA havoc with their OP builds. If you want community, make it. Arrange events, such as the nothing but incarnation duels and treasure hunts we used to have sometimes on Aermyne. Alliance and guild leaders should set the example if they want stability on Echo.

As regards the suggestions made, advertising is the best one. Almost nobody has heard of Dofus.

Finally, we all love the game, but a name change is seriously probably the best way to promote it. English speakers think "doofus" when they see the name, which is a definite turn off. Rebranding is the best thing Ankama could do. Considering the Dofus is more popular and more interesting than Wakfu, but the latter has the cartoon, I always suggest ending Wakfu, folding in its most popular features, and reassigning the Wakfu name to Dofus. Ankama really needs to focus on backing a winner.

They can barely fix bugs..

I'd love to see them pull off saving an entire server
