[Tutorial] Adding an image to a forum message

We have previously shared a little tutorial with you guys, on how you can attach an in-game screen capture to a forum post. This time, we will show you how to embed an image to your forum thread or message.

Getting your image ready

  • Upload your image to an image hosting website.
There are many out there and you are free to pick whichever you choose. For the purpose of this example, we will be using Imgur.
  • Make sure you get the correct URL
Once you have uploaded your image onto the hosting site, the image will be displayed.
Hovering over the image will result in a little pop-up appearing with a URL. If you copy it and use it on your forum post, it will not work. You need to get the[/color][color=#27ae60]direct URL to the image you want to add to your post. All you need to do is to right-click on the image and select the option “Copy image address”.

If you want to double-check that you are indeed copying the correct URL, you can right-click on the image and select the option “Open image in new tab” instead. This will open a new browser window and you can simply copy the URL from the address bar.

An image direct URL will always end with the file format of the image, such as .jpg, .png, .gif, etc.

Ready to write your message?

  • Click the Reply button to an existing thread on the forum, or create a new thread to bring up the text editor.
  • Click on the "Image Properties" button found in the toolbar directly above the message area. A pop-up window will ask you for the image's URL.
  • Paste in the direct URL for the image into the box provided.
  • Click on the OK button found at the bottom of the pop-up window and you should be able to see your image appear in the message area of your post.
  • Once you are happy with your message, all that is left to do is click on the “POST” or “REPLY” button.

When you're uploading to Imgur you can also just hover over the recently uploaded image, click on the chevron that appeared on the top right next to the URL/Copy and click on "Get share links". Then copy the BBCode for usage in forums. Bam.

Other image hosters might provide the BBcode in other places. If they don't, you can either follow the instructions mentioned above or use this code:
