Japan Dofus is an F2P with Item Mall. It is cool, especially if you have a lot of money.

turning dofus into that sort of "casher" game will have a lot of people quitting from the international servers.

The Asian gaming market is very different than the U.S. and European market. The thing is most people here want item mall games because they think hey free game, in Asia however item malls bring in massive amounts of revenue because they're far more willing to spend money than we are. Subscriptions are a far more reasonable solution in my eyes than spending money for what I consider pay to win. You can imagine all weapons have durability and requiring cash shop items to repair them. Having energy recharge at an alarmingly slow rate requiring money spent on cash shop recharge items. No thanks, I'll stick with 8 bucks a month.
