Kolossium Leagues: To Reset the Ratings or Not?

I mean it makes sense to me, do people actually care how high their rating is since the release of the tier system?

A reset between seasons would make sense since it would make each season feel like a fresh experience.

The reset is nice to make the ladder fresh every season. 1x1 ladder needs rewards also.

It also gives people an opportunity to try new builds or new gear without being punished by having to go with their old rating.

I am not sure if this is how it works now but the ornament/title for the top league you achieved should probably be kept when the reset happens so we have something to show for our hard work. The text area of the ornament should probably include the latest season that the league was achieved, for example: S2 - IV Or just S2. The ornament that displays at the start of the kolo fight can be the current league/rank.

Resets will be healthy for kolo since it will encourage more participation rather than stagnate. New people may be demoralized to reach the top if the top spots are thousands of games ahead of them. This can also force participation from players that only kolo to keep their spot since they would need to re-climb.

A good idea might be to implement a system that places you higher/lower depending on the league you achieved last season. For example, starting from Crystal I if you were legend and/or Silver I if you were Crystal I last season. This may alleviate the initial level/gear imbalance for people that achieved lower rankings. Many games with imbalances between players have this type of system implemented, ex: Duelyst.

Knowing the exact date of the kolo reset would be helpful. I started this season really late and may not make it to legend, if possible, so knowing when it is ending would help me determine how hard I would need to push or if it is achievable given the remaining time.

Sure, why not, you should fix the problems associated with the ratings though, like how you can buff your rating by making new characters and signing up in 3v3 team with them, remaking new characters whenever they get too high.

so in essence you grind for a month solid for what? some tokens, xp and a title.

Reset between seasons but make it so all the effort to climb up was worth it. The higher you ended on the previous season, the higher you will end in the new one. If I ended in Legend I don't want to start from Gold for example, I'd at least like to start from Crystal 1 if I lose all the placement fights and Crystal 3 if I win them all for example, Something like that.

As a Legend player I fully support a reset. However, I'd encourage that past ratings have some small influence on your progression in the next season. I don't mind starting in Gold X again, but it won't be enjoyable for neither me nor my opponents to have to win 100 games before meeting Legend players again.

I prefer the rankings to be kept as the seasons change, I got to legend during season 1 after a large amount of battles and feel keeping the rankings helps keep the game more competitive between higher ranked players.
It also provides a clearer path for those working through diamond wthout worry of time restraints.
