Let’s Catchoken the Catokens! (Temporis V Secret Quest #1)

By Angelsnow#6707 - SUBSCRIBER - May 09, 2021, 23:40:20
**[I have a feeling this is a quest of sorts to do with Feline Dion]**
On the Temporis Server:
I came across this whilst in Astrub at [5,-19]
(had to go back to get the first lot of text):
[23:34] [Chetons-nous sur les Chetons !] D'après certaines affiches de la milice, un Ecaflip rôdant près des granges au nord de la cité serait recherché. Serez-vous assez chanceux pour le trouver ?
[Let’s Catchoken the Catokens!] According to some wanted posters, an Ecaflip is wandering around the barns upnorth. Will you be lucky enough to find him?

Then when searching I found in one of the barns in Astrub Fields a secret room, this popped up into my information chat:Spoiler (click here to show spoiler)Barn at [6,-27] walk behind the bales of hay top left of room.
[23:24] [Let’s Catchoken the Catokens!] The door was left open... You can hear some noise... It looks like someone is hiding here. Search the room!
[23:24] [Let’s Catchoken the Catokens!] An Ecaflip winks at you : "If you want to help us catching some Catoken thieves,
take this. It’s a secret mission and only a few people and mercenaries know about it. You’ll get some more next week."

Then clicking the "take this" link takes me to an Ankama webpage with a scroll/flyer

isnt mentioned in the co-ordinates equation of [-AB, (B+C]
 -AB could be either: -12, -22, -32 or -42
(B+C = 2 + 3 = 5) so co-ordinates are [-??, 5]
the only obvious locations are: [-12, 5], [-22, 5], [-32,5] and [-42,5]
[-32,5] and [-42,5] are both in the sea so not those two.

NPC's that may be related:
Kon Iver from Moskitofia [20, -29]

Tohm Katt [6,1]
Mamito from Woofia, mentions Mr Raff (an intermediary for the Woofia) [5,-6]
Mimmy from Meowfia [6,-17]
Pabla Escobara (Rouge Clan) mentions the Woofia [6,-21]
Rekojeht [-30,35]
Santino from Woofia [3,-19]
Mally-Tess Katt from Woofia [-36,-56]

Also, the message is supposed to come from the Meowfia, so I'd guess they think they are the best group and A=1.

The thing I'm not sure about is if -AB means concatenation or product of A and B, so it could also be -2, -4, -6 or -8.

My guess is either [-2, 5] or [-12, 5].

Anyway the coordinates SHOULD be [-12,34] , will have to check when I get in game

If the map co-ordinates are from the equation of [-AB, (C+D)]
-AB should = -12
(C+D) = the sum of C+D/3+4 = 7
as the algebraic equation inside the parenthesis "()" is C plus D, where the value for C = 3 and the value for D = 4.
Surely that would make the co-ordinates [-12,7]  ???

HeroOfMightAndMagic|2021-05-13 11:16:40
then -AB should be taken as -A*B since this is a math equation which would make the coordinates [-2,7]

I'm indecisive about the -AB part as it isnt presented as an algebraic equation within parenthesis' "()" to imply that the resulting number of the sum of the mathematical equation of -A*B

I feel if it was intended to be an algebraic equation too it would be presented as [(-AB ),(C+D)] meaning each part within the parenthesis is the result of each algebraic sum;
(-AB ) = (-1*2) = -2
(C+D) = (3+4) = 7

To me it is presented as;
-AB = -12, -A = -1, B = 2 = -12
(C+D), (3+4) = 7

Had to space out the B and ) as together they made cool laugh

Well, it's just a matter of checking both. Do we know when "next week" starts? I'm assuming tuesday with the maintenance?

It seams all the new additions pop up after each maintenance, so I guess #2 set of co-ordinates will be released then

Not sure if this may be of importance later.....
At Madrestam Harbour [10,-3] this popped up:

[23:06] Une femme à la longue chevelure rousse vous bouscule et s’élance tout droit vers le quai… Après trois grandes enjambées, elle bondit pour venir s’agripper à la poupe d’un navire casino quittant le port. Elle se retourne pour vous faire un signe de la main avant de s’exclamer : « La fortune sourit aux audacieux ! ».
[23:06] A woman with long red hair shoves you aside and rushes toward the platform… After taking three long strides, she leaps and grabs onto the stern of a casino ship leaving the harbour. She turns around to wave at you and shouts: "Fortune favours the bold!"

At the Amakna Inn [2,-1] this pops up:
[23:20] Les canapés sont occupés par deux Ouginaks à la musculature avantageuse qui parlent à voix basse, penchés sur la table. Alors que vous entrez, l’un d’eux se lève et vous propose d’aller faire un tour du côté de chez les Bworks. Serait-ce un rendez-vous dissimulé ?
[23:20] The settees are occupied by two well-muscled Ouginaks speaking in hushed tones while leaning over the table. As you enter, one of them gets up and suggests you take a trip to see the Bworks. Would that be a clandestine meeting?

Pop up at [4,3]
[23:33] "Fuddy? Fuddy? Hey, I'm talkin' to you. You interested, Fuddy?" Disconcerted by the unstable man calling to you, it takes you a few minutes to realise he's actually a wandering merchant trying to sell you a pair of dice.

Pop up at [-28,-52]

Angelsnow was right, it is [-12, 7].

The new challenge is this:

 As there are no 3-digit coordinates in Dofus and both coordinates of the result have a negative sign, I will asume that each bow meow (or at least the ones in the solution) represents a 1-digit non-negative integer (so a number between 0 and 9).I will denote each bow meow by the initial of their name, the ghost by (for dead) and the standard bow meow by b, so the equations become:

b · b = a                      s = w + b·b
a + w = 5                    s + g = 2 · a
g · g = t                       t - g = d

From the first two in the left and the first in the right, it is easy to see that s = 5.

Now, as a is in the solution, we know it has one digit and is positive. From the first equation in the left we now it is a perfect square and from the second, we know that it is less than or equal to (because w is positive). This means that a can be 0, 1 or 4.

With this and the second equation on the right, g must be -5-3 or 3. With the last equation of each side, we know that d = g · (g - 1) must be positive and have one digit, so g can't be -5 or -3. Therefore, g = 3, d = 6 and the second equation on the right tells us a = 4. Finally, the second equation on the left implies that w = 1.

In conclusion, the next set of coordinates is [-64, -51], which exists on the map.

Nicely done! How did you get the next scroll to show, I went to [-12,7] and nothing happened

To simplify for others:
Bow Meow = 2
Angora = 4
White = 1
Charming = 3
Tabby = 9
Snow = 5
Ghost = 6

2 x 2 = 4    //    5 = 1 + 2 x 2
4 + 1 = 5    //    5 + 3 = 4 + 4
3 x 3 = 9    //    9 - 3 = 6

edit: Took a trip to [-12,7] and this popped up this time:
[20:17] [Chetons-nous sur les Chetons !] Lors de votre passage, un Ecaflip glisse un parchemin dans votre poche. Il chuchote : « Je serai là-bas la semaine prochaine, si besoin. »
[20:17] [Let’s Catchoken the Catokens!] As you are walking, an Ecaflip discreetly slips a parchment into your pocket. He whispers : “I’ll be there next week if you need anything.”

It's probably a different quest, but this message popped up in [3, -18]:

[Sur les traces de la Maoufia] Alors que vous traversez la célèbre cité des mercenaires, vous surprenez une discussion près de la fontaine « Tu as entendu ? Il paraît qu'ils ont tout pris et qu'ils sont partis vers l'ouest. » « Ils sont vraiment fous, heureusement que nous sommes plus malins à la Champfia ! » Lorsqu'ils vous remarquent, les deux aventuriers se taisent et s'éloignent.
[In the footsteps of the Meowfia] As you walk through the famous mercenary city, you overhear a discussion near the fountain "Did you hear? I heard they took everything and went west. "They are really crazy, fortunately we are smarter in Mushfia!" When they notice you, the two adventurers shut up and walk away.

I walked straight left until I reached the tower [-21, -18] but I didn't find anything. I have started a different thread to follow this quest.

Hello there,

It's probably something else but...

At [-64,-54], this popped up :

En arpentant le lac gelé vous remarquez qu’un jeu de dés est coincé dans la glace, juste sous vos pieds. Vous pourriez vous équiper d’une pioche pour le récupérer…
Walking along the frozen lake, you notice a set of dice, stuck in the ice right under your feet. You could always equip a pick to collect it…

I tried to equip a pick to see if it would make anything clickable appear, to no avail. But if you leave the map, and then come back (with the pick still equipped), you get this message :

Vous voilà équipé ! Il ne vous reste plus qu’à retrouver l’emplacement de ces minuscules dés dans l’immensité du lac gelé… Avouez qu’il aurait été judicieux de placer un repère avant de partir car vous allez maintenant devoir y passer des heures…
You're equipped! All you need to do now is locate those tiny little dice in this massive frozen lake… Admittedly, it would've been smart to place a marker before leaving, as now it'll take you hours to find them again…

I haven't explored the entire lake, but sure will tomorrow !

Update !

If you go to [-62,-59], you'll get this :

Une silhouette se dessine au loin. Elle se rapproche de vous mais le brouillard est si épais que vous n’arrivez pas à distinguer son visage… « J’aurais besoin de vos services de mineur. J’ai égaré un objet dans une faille rocheuse un peu plus au nord. Rejoignez-moi dès que vous le pouvez. »
A figure appears in the distance. They approach you, but the fog is too thick for you to make out their face… "I have need of your mining services. I lost an object in a rocky fault a bit north of here. Join me there as soon as possible."

So I went north, and at [-62,-64], this popped up :

 L’homme vous guide vers la position. Après seulement quelques coups de pioche dans la roche, il vous arrête. Il parvient à extirper une étrange carte de jeu estampillée d’insignes d’Ecaflipus. Vous avez à peine le temps de l’interroger que son corps se désagrège, balayé par une rafale de vent.
The man guides you to the spot. After hitting the rock with the pick just a few times, he stops you. He manages to extract a strange game card stamped with Ecaflipus insignia. You barely have time to ask him about it before his body disintegrates, blown away by a gust of wind.

I searched every nook and cranny of the lake, but this seemed to be the only clues/hidden quest here. And no set of dice sad

In front of Bwork Dungeon

The place exudes the foul odours so specific to Bworks. In the middle of this austere landscape, an adventurer stands before the gaping maw of the Bworkette's lair. She asks if you've seen a muscular Ouginak pass by. When you say you haven't, she wanders off sobbing.

Looks like something about the famous gang we have to stop did someone found something for the next chat of this "story" ?

The next clue should be released on Tuesday along with the regular maintenance. Previous clues have been "updated" or given at these times.

Although Ankama better pull their fingers out, because if we only get the puzzle pieces at each maintenance, there is only 4 left till the end of Temporis and having these secret quests presented this way is distracting from the main point of the Temopris event. Each scrap of information that pops up tells a broken and hazy story at best and is becoming increasingly frustrating, especially when it has been so blaringly obvious that the French community have had clear advantages over the English speaking/international communities all along (see the mess up with the co-ordinates equation on quest scroll pages/web links).

BTW They keep showing a picture of Lucky Dice so I wonder if you may gain an advantage to having some equipped as well as an Unlucky Pickaxe?
You can make the amulet using the following Ecaflip Cards: Wabbits, Jellies, Bworks, Kwaks and Night Monsters
Cards for an Unlucky Pickaxe: Small Key, Spiritual Fires, Fecaflip, North Incarnam and South Incarnam

also when you have the lucky dice if you take it to the kerub in astrub you can show him the "magic item" and he says it's fake, idk if it means anything or not but was strange

Kerub has said that about the Lucky Dice even before Temporis (and on the regular servers) so not sure if it is related in any way.
My go-to point to see if something is Temporis secret quest related is, if it shows up on the wikia then it is general in-game content. If it doesn't it is Temporis event content.

So it is a TEMPORIS WIDE event, yet MAJORITY of people are NOT INFORMED of IMPORTANT ELEMENTS of these secret Quests.
Namely majority of your non-French community.
You post on the French event forum, yet with-hold it from the international forums. Not a fair event then is it? In fact it is quite discriminatory of you Ankama.

THANK YOU ANKAMA, THANK YOU FOR THINKING OF ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Now we, the international communities, feel that as we have so clearly made efforts to solve the puzzles in the secret quests, as proof from previous chat threads, we should be afforded the same sharing of event information and rewards your own French community have been given the advantage of.
