Beta 2.67: Contest to test the Alliances revamp!

By [Ankama]DOFUS - ADMIN - March 16, 2023, 15:00:00
AnkaTracker Announcements

The beta has been open for over a week now, and your tests so far have been a great help. To keep putting the new system through its paces, especially the KOTH phase, we're running a contest!

Control them all!

We've got a little contest for the beta that might interest you… Join or create an alliance with your friends, and try to take over as many of the territories in this list as you can:

  • Porco Territory
  • The Jelly Peninsula
  • Astrub Rocky Inlet Bandit Territory
  • Dark Forest
  • Gobball Corner
  • Cania Bay
  • Enchanted Lakes
  • Cania Moors
  • Rocky Plains
  • Cania Fields
All of the prisms in these territories will be removed when this news item is posted, and the alliance that controls the largest number of these territories at 11:59 p.m. (CET) on Saturday, March 18 will win the contest!

To learn more about the changes we've made as part of the Alliances revamp, check out the devblog post for the update and the Beta 2.67 changelog.

Rewards

We will reward the players who are members of the winning alliance at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, whether they've taken part in KOTH phases or not. The top three alliances will receive the following prizes:

  • 1st place: The new Test-a-Beast ceremonial petsmount* + the Betadjutant title
  • 2nd and 3rd place: The Betadjutant title

The rewards will be distributed within a few days after the update is released.

* This is a ceremonial petsmount, linked to the account, which will be reused for this type of Beta event.

Take part in the beta

Besides giving you a chance to win these rewards, this event will also help us to improve the KOTH system. If you encounter any problems or bugs during the event, please report them in the dedicated forum section.

Reminders for beta 2.67:

  • We have imported all characters that have been subscribed and active for three months as of February 28.
  • The requirement to be an alliance member for at least 48 hours before being allowed to join a King of the Hill phase has been temporarily deactivated.

Good luck, everyone!

I'm confused by this, wasnt one of the points of the Alliance revamp was to try and prevent larger Alliances from monopolising large numbers of areas and for long periods of time? But youre encouraging it on Beta?

"One of the main goals of this overhaul was to limit any one alliance's ability to acquire a monopoly. The only strict rule we've imposed is the one limiting the maximum number of characters in an alliance. However, several more organic limitations have also been developed in support of this goal:
  • For all of these rules, our vision is as follows: "Control of one or two territories should be accessible for any alliance, but it should be very difficult to keep control of many territories at the same time."
  • In line with the previous point, we hope (and also encourage players) to focus more closely on this system. Going forward, triggering an AvA will be easier and much less predictable. But our intention is not to have one alliance keep control of the same territory for months on end. In addition, by better protecting alliances that control only a few territories, we're making it easier for them to organize attacks on tougher alliances."

Hello!

I understand how it might feel this way. However, the goal of this event is not the same as the Alliance revamp! This event is organized to encourage players to do territory conquests and have a maximum of King of the Hills going on at once, with as many players as possible, so we can test out the system in this Beta phase with conditions closer to what you may find on actual game servers.

Thank you for your understanding and I hope this helps clear your confusion a little bit!

And I am also confused...
  • Wasn't it announced with horns and drums that exclusivity of any item will stop? Isn't this translatebale as "any item can be purchased, sooner or later, ig"?
  • Yet, "This is a ceremonial petsmount, linked to the account, which will be reused for this type of Beta event."
  • I don't enjoy pvp (as most players), as some don't enjoy pvm (as very few players) [there is also a certain percent that enjoys a mix of both]. I don't kolo, but I can still buy pebs and nugs ig, okay... let's say ... But how the molly marshmallow I am going to get an item linked to account like this petsmount skin? How the graal garlic of all alchemist plants I am supposed to purchase one ig?

And, all this, after you also announced  with horn and drums that you're taking away the exclusivity for manitou zoth that was sold as premium blablablalbalb only for those who bought said pink box?

So, besides confused with regards to where "all items should and will be available for everyone" stands, I'm also dissapointed, that you guys keep doing all in your power to try to persuade all players, sometime using fishing luring methods, sometime using a raw big hammer, to pvp, regardless of their feelings towards pvp: yaa or naaa?!

Hello!

The end of exclusivity for ceremonial items was specifically for items distributed in conventions or in real-life events and does not affect items that are gained through various in-game events or gameplay modes! You can find the article about this here.

While we understand that certain game modes, such as PvP, is not everyone's cup of tea, we still want to reward players who win contests and events with special items.

In this specific case, this ceremonial petsmount will be re-used through other such beta events!

There will always be items that can only be obtained through specific in-game methods (or even social network items such as the Witter Beanie!) but no items will be obtained only through attending physical events anymore! This ensures that every player has an equal chance to obtain these items.

I thank you for your understanding.
We have identified a problem in the beta server. Deleting a rank causes display problems on the members' list. Please do not delete any ranks to avoid this problem from reoccurring during the weekend.
The issue will be fixed on Monday.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.
Hello everyone,

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the event! Thanks to you, we were able to collect a lot of important data.

We understand the format of the event is debatable. From our point of view, without it, we would not have been able to collect the feedback that we needed on this scale.

Many people reported to us cases of cheating (or lack of fairplay). Of the observed facts, the potential abuses occured in multiple alliances and not only one. Furthermore, it is impossible to detect all of those techniques upstream and this allowed us to uncover those "flaws". This is part of the type of reporting that we are looking for.

Some players reported connection port issues preventing them from logging on to participate. This problem was corrected during the Beta's maintenance on March 22, and without this event we would not have been able to detect it before the deployment of the update.

Regarding the event's format: yes, Alliance vs Alliance seem to concern mostly players focusing on PvP but this does not mean that PvM-oriented players cannot participate and be useful. That being said, during an update more oriented towards PvM, they will of course be able to test their luck again. Furthermore, if we offer a reward on a particular niche and not to all players reporting their feedback, it is also to push players to login for specific events. It is honest to believe that among all the participants, many are those who do not feel any particular interest towards the Beta server, notably among PvP players. If we offer the reward on all the players who give their feedback on the forum, as useful as they are (and once again we thank you greatly for this), then this reward would automatically lose all its value.

In short, the rewards are the sinews of war. If we don't offer any, we don't get enough data and probably not always the type we are looking for. If we offer some, then it opens the door to cheating, conflicts and issues... And paradoxically it allows us to identify upstream what might cause issues later on. We understand that this is not the best format but as it stands, it's the one that has proved itself to this day.

Once again there will be many future occasions to obtain this ceremonial petsmount! Be it on PvP or PvM events, on the Beta server.

And now for the winners!
With 6 territories captured, in first place we find the alliance monopole [FINi]. In second place, it's the alliance BuildType [DEBUG] with 4 territories. There is no third alliance on the podium.
The rewards will be distributed in the days following the update's release.

Thanks again to all of the event's participants!

Please don't get me wrong, I aint against rewarding beta testers.

I would just like:
  • - to be able to buy said petsmounts in game, they should probs be linked for a certain period of time, not "per life, on an acc"; (or the accs sells might be slightly "encouraged", and/or scams promising that; as the "hey, wanna buy an acc with a GM set/ pet on it?!" that used to be around for a looong time);
  • - to see events, I d c, ig, on beta, on alpha, on w.e., for pvm too; and not only with cute or mild or etc rewards; but also rewards in cash; as in, I don't recall ever never ever a pvm tournament for cash. : )

So to clarify is this mount ONLY available to acquire and use on the Beta servers, never on the regular servers?

My thoughts exactly!
And my wonder!

At least, if it weren't account linked, so it might be available ig, to purchase from players, after certain time, shorter or longer ...
