All i know is that with a Gelano, you're supposed to remove the ap, mage the mp, then put the ap back on. Maybe it is the same with the wreck ring. Remove other stats, add the range, then add the other stats back.

But don't take my word for it.
No, for any other ring which actually has stats removing the stats first then trying to mage them back on after maging the AP on will just drop the AP. That technique might work on gelano because you are just maging one stat back on, so there is a reasonable chance that you will succeed at maging the one AP back on without dropping the MP.
But for something like Wreck ring which has lots of stats that need to be maged back on then the range will likely drop off after just a few attempts.
The technique which must be used on items like Wreck Ring is to mage the item to the stats you want, then attempt the exomage. If it fails the stats drop, so you mage it again to fix the stats. If it succeeds it will be a critical success and the stats will not drop, you'll just have a nice exomaged stat on the item as well.

What are the chances of a range exomage? higher than ap I assume?
Yeah it goes range is a higher chance than MP, which is a higher chance that AP. I know that AP is generally considered to be a 1/100 chance, MP is perhaps 1/50. I'm not sure what range is.
