My solution to the bot spammer problem
By Daetal#5815 - FORMER SUBSCRIBER - May 17, 2008, 04:08:53There is a bot spammer problem on Rushu, and probably other servers as well. It's so bad sometimes that I need to switch off "black chat" entirely. The bot spammers take over maps in Astrub, making them unusable for real players.
Here's my solution. Let the community deal with them.
Allow players to mark other characters as "spammer". When a player discovers a bot spewing spam, they mark the bot as a spammer. If a character receives a number of spammer marks in an hour from multiple players, Dofus can be confident that the character truly is a spammer.
The bot spammer then becomes open to be aggressed without penalty. (Players are currently punished for aggressing a "neutral" bot spammer.)
This solution would also work for the real-person spammers who change one letter in their message to flood the chat with their message.

Take a look at the Anti-bot ideas thread.
Instead of making the bots free to agress, just disable them by silencing them in all public channels for a while (either a time limit, or until he wins x fights). Even if someone is ganged up on by x players and tagged as a spammer, he can still continue playing, but can't continue spamming.
DO NOT BUY FROM THE KAMA SELLERS.
no market = no reason to be in the game
My solution is the best (but will not work as there are too many lazy dishonest losers)

Yes this is best solution.
People: DON'T BUY THOSE FRIKKIN KAMASES!!! IT'S NOT REALLY THAT HARD TO MAKE WHEW 100KK. You really need to find out good way. I make atleast 30kk+ kamases per day and it's enought for me. I just pity people who buy kamases...
(and no i didn't have caps lock on)
they get banned but they make more accounts.
and ozq, 1. its kamas and 2.
I don't buy kamas nor do i support it but for high levels it IS hard to make 30mk for sets unless you have like 5 alts >_>
Limit new account making to 1 per day per IP address?
And put a limit of max 2 F2P accounts in same battle from same computer/IP address?
hehe, my solution to fight piracy: do not download free music off the internet!
as to the 1 new account per IP solution - seems reasonable, but botters would immediately start using all those free proxy services that offer a broad range of random IPs.

I'm a level 88 Feca and I make 200-600kk a day from souling Gob Dungeon 10-20 times, not to mention gathering valuable mat's. Not hard to make kamas at all

Well then ppl should make alts and usually they do. 1kamas is kamas but when you talk about many kamas are they kamases (you put that e in because it can't be kamass. And i said 100kk is easy to make because ppl that don't know how to make money buy kamases and often high lvl ppl know how to get piles of money. Anyway i wasn't pointing at you
Still easiest way to stop kama farming is that ppl just stop buyng kamases

I'm 118 and making the money i need for my sets is not easy.
I have 100 farmer/baker as well.
and it is not kamases. when you finish a fight it says "kamas"
I still think a new position should be created to allow trustable players (which would have to be tested or something) to deal with bots (disconnecting, banning, etc..). I know there are many players out there that would be happy to ban as many bots as possible, if they had a chance. Ankama just needs to make it in a way these bans could be reavaliated if needed, as humans may commit mistakes (like banning a real player in a moment of rush).
Also, I fail to see a good point in allowing people to multi-account:
Let players gain money faster? No point.
People with superior system having advantage as they can run more accounts at once? No good.
Making the community factor only a secundary choice, as you can just group with your several alts and have more profit? Very bad!
Then someone will say: "Oh, but if they remove mc people will just create programs to use it again!" Then I'd say that the single fact of making it ilegal will stop several players from using it (including bots), be it because they like to play fair or just because they'll be risking their accounts to be banned.
And as stated before in the Anti-bot Ideas topic, just reducing the number is already a good thing.
I don't know if somebody already suggested it, I don't know if this work against bots, spamming normally is easy when you press the direction button (Up) and get the last message wrote, my idea is block this possibility, this will hurt lots of players... but I think that can be perfect against bots.
Bots are programs, programs don't "press UP". They just print a msg. Sure if you're talking about your average newbie who wants to sell his adventurer set and spams then yes, he won't be able to spam. Regarding bots...nope.
Oh, and I agree with the Idea of restricting players from using more than 2 accs
Unfair and it's not gonna happen because alts or not they are p2p accounts. And as long as people make their alts p2p I doubt Ankama will restrict it. Furthermore bot users use proxy servers so there's no way to tell if they use multiple accounts since they get different IPs for every account and I doubt they have pc shortages or "father problems".
As for any anti-bot, anti-spammer solution in community's hands...Sorry, can't agree with that. Not while there are a lot of people in game that can't be trusted with it (to put it mildly). Take your average immature person pissed at me for whatever reason. He runs in his guild/friends and says "hey guys XXXXXXX is an a-hole let's mark him and teach him a lesson". 20 people anxious to help their friend mark me as spammer, I get banned for a while. In other words community can't be trusted and every little bit of power like this one can be abused.
