When you sign up for DOFUS and/or DOFUS Retro, you agree to follow certain rules. These rules exist to maintain a friendly atmosphere and ensure that all players are comfortable in the game.
Every player should know that if they violate these rules, they may be sanctioned. The severity of the sanctions varies depending on each case and its seriousness. Here is an overview.
LIST OF ACTIONS THAT CAN BE PERFORMED AFTER AN OFFENSE IS COMMITTED.
WARNINGS
For certain offenses, a warning is given to the player to inform them of the rules and to warn them that they risk sanctions. This warning is sent directly in the game by the moderators or by email from Ankama. It does not expire and is automatically considered to have been read and understood by the player.
MUTING
Removing the ability to chat is one of the sanctions applied by moderators against players who do not comply with the rules of DOFUS and/or DOFUS Retro. They may also issue a request to suspend (ban) the account.
KICKING
Moderators may remove players from the game for a set amount of time. This is generally done as a deterrent or with a request to suspend the account (ban).
TEMPORARY BAN
The account is inaccessible for several days (3, 7, 15, or 30 days). This temporary suspension is a step that may precede a permanent ban of the account. Its duration depends on the seriousness of the infraction and whether it is a repeated offense.
PERMANENT BAN
The account is permanently banned from accessing Dofus et DOFUS Retro, or all games and services offered by Ankama. This sanction is usually applied in cases where the player is a repeat offender or has inexcusably disregarded the Terms of Use.
The severity of the sanction depends on the seriousness of the offense. Generally speaking, a repeat offense after a warning will result in a temporary ban, and one or more bans will result in a permanent ban. However, some infractions automatically result in a permanent ban.
If you want to dispute a ban, only Ankama Support can review your request.
A NON-EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF THE RULES OF CONDUCT
ACCOUNTS, CHARACTERS, NAMES, AND NICKNAMES
All account and character nicknames, guild names, and alliance names and tags must comply with the following rules:
- Must correspond to a pronounceable word (e.g., the word "ssdfzxjf" does not respect this rule), with the exception of alliance tags
- Must not refer to a political orientation, ethnic group, community, or religion
- Must not be vulgar or offensive
- Must not have a sexual or pornographic connotation
- Must not have a racist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic or sexist connotation
- Must not refer to illegal or illicit practices
- Must not advocate terrorism
- In a broader sense, must not include any connotation incompatible with the game's PEGI classification (Pan European Game Information)
- Must not contain your identity (first or last name) or that of another community member
- Must not imitate a registered trademark
- Must not refer to a narcotic product or anything prohibited by law
- Must not suggest practices forbidden by the game rules
- Must not imitate the names of major elements in Ankama's creations (non-player characters, heroes of the story, iconic places, dungeon bosses, etc.)
- Must not imitate the nickname of an official account (moderator, game master or Ankama staff member)
- Must not be spelled alternately to circumvent the rules above
Lending accounts is prohibited because of various possible abuses (using the borrowed account to commit offenses, theft, etc.). If this rule is not followed, both parties involved (loaner and loanee) may be sanctioned.
Selling, buying, trading and giving accounts is prohibited. The accounts are the property of Ankama and, as such, no pecuniary profit, whether in real or virtual (kamas) currency, can be derived therefrom. Moreover, each account is associated with personal data, which are risky to divulge. The account's original owner remains forever responsible for their character's actions. They can be prosecuted criminally in the event of serious actions performed with their account.
DISCUSSION CHANNELS
Each channel has its own purpose. In DOFUS, this is indicated in the in-game guide, in the "Chat" section. In DOFUS Retro, it is indicated when you hover your mouse over the check box to enable/disable the channel. Using channels improperly is prohibited.
Public Channels:
- General (/s): This channel lets you chat with all adventurers present on the map.
- Trade (/b): This channel lets you see and send buy and sell offers for resources and items present in the game. Items can be linked in the offer to improve legibility (shortcut shift+left-click on any item).
- Recruitment (/r): This channel lets you find companions to create or join a group. It is also the place to recruit new members for your guild or your alliance or join another. Requests for and offers of services (looking for a crafter, help with a quest or dungeon, etc.) are also sent in this channel, as well as requests regarding the location of portals or monsters.
- Community (/c) (DOFUS specific): This channel lets you chat with people in your language community.
- Alignment (/c) (DOFUS Retro specific): This channel lets you chat with people in your PvP alignment to organize the defense and conquest of aligned territories, and to protect your city and allies.
Private Channels:
- Private (/w): This channel lets you chat privately with a specific player.
- Group (/p): This channel lets you chat with your groupmates.
- Team (/t): This channel lets you chat with your allies or among spectators, but only in combat.
- Guild (/g): This channel lets you chat with your guildmates.
- Alliance (/a) (DOFUS specific): This channel lets you chat with other players in your alliance.
- Kolossium (/k) (DOFUS specific): This channel lets you chat with your teammates during multi-player combat in the Kolossium.
Information Channels:
- Information: This channel lets you keep track of the actions performed by your character (for example, logging on, using a Zaap, etc.). The results of commands sent in the chat (e.g., /time, /whois) are also displayed in this channel.
- Fight: This channel lets you monitor all actions done during combat (spells cast, damage received colored based on the strike element, death of an ally or enemy, end-of-fight announcements, etc.).
- Promotional (DOFUS specific): This channel contains Ankama news, information about not-to-be-missed events, new things to discover, etc.
- Event (DOFUS Retro specific): This channel contains server news, including when an achievement has been earned (e.g., when a player wins at Gobbal Wheel).
Below are the rules for chat channels:
- Flooding, which consists of inundating channels with several messages in a row within a short timeframe, is not allowed.
- Trade flooding (in the General channel) is prohibited. However, in DOFUS Retro it is allowed in marketplaces*.
- Recruitment flooding (in the General channel) is also prohibited, except in front of and inside dungeons.
- Requests for and offers of services (looking for a crafter, help with a quest or dungeon, etc.), as well as requests regarding the location of portals or monsters, are to be sent in the recruitment channel.
- Excessive use of special characters, writing in all caps, and repeating a character with the intent to gain attention are prohibited. In addition, in DOFUS Retro, using the @ symbol or any other character that makes it possible to display the dangerous website automatic warning message ("Warning") is also prohibited.
- To prevent scamming and phishing, it is prohibited to distribute links (URLs) that redirect to a third-party site if Ankama is not the author of the content.
- In the Community channel, the following are prohibited:
- Using any language other than that of the associated community
- Posting announcements intended for the Trade channel, as the latter is provided for this purpose
- Posting announcements intended for the Recruitment channel for the same reasons, except for announcements regarding community gatherings or events (organizing an event, opening of the Lair of the Giant Kralove, etc.).
- Using multiple accounts to bypass the technical restrictions of the various channels (including the sending delay between two messages) or the currently defined rules is prohibited and subject to sanctions.
*The positions of marketplaces are indicated on the world map. The Astrub marketplace is located under the Zaap.
EVENTS
RESPECTING OTHER PLAYERS
- In order to maintain a pleasant atmosphere on the servers, polite language is required at all times. Vulgarity, insults, promoting terrorism or illegal practices, speech that is racist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, or sexual in nature, and any other inappropriate comments are prohibited.
- Scams are prohibited. It's never a good feeling to realize that you've been tricked or manipulated in any way. Therefore, any in-game scams directly observed by a moderator will be sanctioned.
- Identity theft is prohibited, whether it's the identity of a player, guild, alliance, or official account, and regardless of intent (whether good or bad).
- Revealing another player's personal information is prohibited.
- Using a character to block or make it difficult to access NPCs, map-changing cells, or any points normally accessible in the game is prohibited.
- Generally speaking, it is prohibited to interfere with the smooth operation of other players' games.
TRADE
When you publish an offer to buy or sell, you must imperatively indicate the item(s) or resource(s) you want to buy or sell and the desired price.
The purpose of this rule is to ban the practice referred to as "% off trades" (buying or selling large numbers of items at abnormally low prices). Any message that could be assimilated with this practice can therefore be sanctioned.
The following are prohibited:
- Buying or selling of accounts, guilds, alliances, alignment
- Buying or selling of subscriptions and kamas outside the ogrine and kama exchanges
- Buying or selling of lottery codes
- Buying or selling of character names, guild names, alliance names/tags
- Buying or selling of goods or services outside our games in exchange for ogrines, kamas, or any other in-game item/resource
- Buying or selling between servers, games, or platforms
- The practice referred to as "% off trades"
MERCHANT MODE (DOFUS RETRO)
Outside of marketplace locations, each player is entitled to a maximum of one active merchant mode per map.
The following are prohibited:
- Selling items (equipment, consumables, resources, etc.) at exorbitant prices in order to maintain or monetize a place in merchant mode
- Selling items where the value of the content cannot be clearly identified by the buyer (e.g., Magic Fragment)
- Positioning a merchant mode station in a way that impedes or even obscures access to the game (a door, map change plot, etc.), an NPC, or another player in merchant mode
CHEATING
- Exploiting an in-game bug is prohibited. Any anomalies must be reported to Support in the relevant section.
- Using any third-party programs (including programs commonly called "bots" or "auto-clickers") is prohibited, no matter how they are used.
- Creating, using, and/or promoting an illegal private server (for a game offered by Ankama or any other publisher) is prohibited.
- Modifying the game client is prohibited. This includes all files in the game's installation directory.
- Using two or more accounts by any one player in alliance-versus-alliance, prism, or perceptor player-versus-player fights is prohibited.
SINGLE-ACCOUNT MODE
- Each player may only log in with one account at a time per server.
- Using a proxy, VPN, virtual machine, or any other method that allows the limitations implemented to be circumvented is prohibited.
- In DOFUS Retro, having an account in merchant mode and playing with another account at the same time, or having multiple merchant modes active at the same time, on the same server is prohibited.
Moderators ensure that rules are followed in the game. They do not in any way replace Support (https://support.ankama.com). Failure to follow the rules listed here will expose you to immediate and/or deferred sanctions, which may include group or individual warnings. These warnings may lead to a permanent ban of your account(s).
