Devblog

In version 2.34, we are introducing a new feature to the game called Community Challenges. This is a system that allows you to offer challenges to other players and to win kamas by betting on their success or failure. This feature is a "tool". The players are the ones who determine what type of challenges they would like to offer to the community.

Eniripsa reworking Devblog - April 04, 2016 - [Briss]

Eniripsa class spells have evolved very little over the years. This is the class in which the attacking panel, made up of just 3 spells, was the weakest. Its main role as healer could justify this operation in part, but we want each class to have interesting and sufficiently diversified offensive capacities. What’s more, certain healing spells were redundant and the Word of Thorn spell has, amongst other things, always had a problem finding its place with the Eniripsa.

So we have reviewed all the spells in the class so as not to impair it: the Eniripsa keeps its healing role and the majority of its spells have kept the same role. However, we wanted to offer more varied healing capacities, in particular thanks to the new spells in the Air and Water route, more interesting support capacities and minor improvements in utility spells.

Guild Notices Devblog - March 29, 2016 - [lichen]
We are planning a Guild Notice system (similar to a “Message of the Day” ), for the 2.34 update. The system will facilitate desynchronized communication and organization among guild members (organize a dungeon, a Perceptor’s attack, plan an event, send vital information, a funny joke and so on).

In the April update, we are adding a new messaging system for players in combat: instant messages.

The arrival of Haven Bags is not the only thing that will make life better for you in DOFUS. There are also other improvements, such as the state display. As there began to be more and more states, they became increasingly less visible (unless you performed a time-consuming check), so we decided to optimise the state display...
New Huppermage class Devblog - November 25, 2015 - [Briss]
These are mages who have the art and ability to control the elements. That’s pretty much most of what you know about the new class of Huppermages in DOFUS. But how do they use these elements? How do they combine them? Find out the answers in this Devblog!
Among the new features in the next update, you’ll find a world map search tool. Search for monsters, areas, resources, items and other points of interest: we will make your life as an adventurer easier! For full details, read the devblog!

Haven Bags Devblog - November 17, 2015 - [lichen]

Haven Bags are finally coming to DOFUS with build 2.32, allowing you to customize the inside of a house while giving you extra storage space.

During the 2.27 update, the Smithmagic rune generation system was significantly modified. When the old stocks of runes began to disappear gradually, certain imbalances became more and more evident, and we decided to make several improvements to this system in version 2.31.

The Inter-Server Kolossium Alpha Test Devblog - Development - October 12, 2015 - [Izmar]
The Inter-Server Kolossium (ISK) has been long-awaited by many of you. We have been working on this system for a long time and now we need your help to go further.

We need to test a number of features with real players, which is why the alpha version of ISK is now available on the beta server. However, not all of the ISK’s functionalities are available at this time and some of them are still in development.

Groups of Idols Devblog - August 25, 2015 - [lichen]

Since the Idol system came into being, we've received a lot of feedback from players who have encountered difficulties when making frequent Idol changes between fights. Initially, we weren't expecting players to change Idols so often, but this is something we would like to encourage. We've recently been working on an custom set system for Idols that we've named "Groups of Idols".

In update 2.30 we are introducing a new mechanism for generating nuggets. The current passive generation system no longer suits us as it is not regulated by real demand and it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a stable destruction of nuggets over time, since the generation process is continuous.

Consequently we have worked on a new nugget generation system which is based on recycling resources and items.

Constructive Criticism We received an enormous amount of feedback following the updating of jobs applied in Version 2.29. Here is a summary of the main issues that we intend to correct in version 2.30:
  • Some resources are far too rare and make the manufacturing of items (including consumables) too difficult.
  • Recipes for consumables are sometimes too complex, and the dependence on other professions is too restrictive.
  • The profession of fisherman is too difficult to level and the absence of certain protectors is penalizing.
  • Progression in the profession of hunter is too laborious.

Characteristics softcaps for the majority of classes have not changed since the game came out in 2004, and they generally suffer from balancing issues: it’s more worthwhile to invest points in certain characteristics, and other characteristics are neglected because the investment isn’t nearly as profitable. For example, it’s easier for a Feca or an Eniripsa to invest points in Intelligence, while a Iop or Ecaflip would be better off investing in Strength.

As part of the Festival of Bonta, Piers Boredman is proud to welcome Pouchecot, Protector of the Month of Frauguctor. It’s a first for those inhabitants of the World of Twelve who’ve never had the pleasure of being addressed by a Protector. Today, the one we call ‘The Fruitcake’ is here to tell us all about this special day with much love in his heart. And laughter...
Every summer, the temperature rises off the Otomai Coast. The ground shakes, and rumblings can be heard in the bowels of the earth. Could this be one of celebrated troubadour David Gettalife’s massive raves? Even better! It’s the reopening of Vulkania Park! And if you venture in there, you’ll end up raving about it too!
Are you feeling this tense atmosphere? Like somethin' is brewin' and bout to begin...  An ever so subtle mix of fear, excitation, and impatience... Nothing more normal: the Goultarminator is coming in from the East!
In the 2.29 update, the professions system has been improved, so we used this opportunity to make in-depth improvements to the Smithmagic interfaces also. The effects list display is largely based on a player mod, created by ExiTeD then reworked by Relena. Thanks go to both of you!

For the 2.29 update, we have been working on Incarnam. We’ve improved its graphics, updated the monsters of the area, optimised the maps and reduced the size of the area to cut out the large amount of travelling that was involved for some quests...

Find out more below the cut!

The idol system is a new concept that allows players to increase their XP and loot rewards by increasing combat difficulty. It will be introduced in the 2.29 update.

Professions have always played an important role in DOFUS, as nearly every item used by players must be crafted by the players, and craftspeople and harvesters are essential and indispensable to the game. However, the profession system itself hasn’t evolved much over the years, as we’ve mainly only added new professions and new recipes. It was time to take a step back and improve the system as a whole. For the 2.29 update, we have therefore planned some significant changes for the professions, which we’ve already been working on for several months.

Update 2.29 will reveal a new system of managing Critical Hits in the game.

Starting on 5 March of this year, subscriptions and the gifts that come with the subscriptions will be offered in the form of "packs". The subscription periods will still be 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year – and this will not change. If you wish to subscribe, you'll always be able to choose one of these 5 basic packs. The prices will not change either.
Sadida Revamp Devblog Devblog - February 03, 2015 - [Briss]
The Sadida class spells and gameplay need updating and improvement, despite the changes made to most of its spells two years ago. The class had a lot of trouble finding its place in groups, be it when fighting players or monsters. We put this trouble down to summons that aren’t very resistant, gameplay based a bit too much on these same summons, some spells that are obsolete when used within groups, and some damage spells that aren’t effective enough.
